Well, it's either Samuel L Jackson or Sylvester Stallone for the lead.

I was just thinking about this the other day. It's good to see the industry starting to focus on the great black musicians that have greatly influenced American music during the last century. James Brown is just as essential as the Beatles or Elvis and he deserves a biopic that details his contributions. He has his faults like all of us, but the man is a fucking genius and has inspired generations of musicians/entertainers since his debut.

this is gonna be a tough role 2 cast/play being that it cant just be any old body 2 become the hardest workin man in show biz...i think they should make it a documentary, with james doin the narration like he did in his book along with commentary from his family friends and some of the musicians hes inspired like george clinton and prince

I think it's cool to acknowledge folks like James Brown while they're still here to see it.

ooooo i like that. i think that would be best. cuz they'd have to find someone who resembled him AND could dance their ass off. i honestly dont think it can be done. unless they throw the look alike part out the window and just find someone who that dance

In the New York Times article James Brown is quoted saying "I'd like LeVar Burton to play me... He was magnificent in "Roots"."

I think it's very hard to find somebody for that role. But JB should be part of the movie, too. At the end for example playing/being himself, or ath beginning introducing the movie. Don't know...

yea i read that, but i just dont see it. i saw some of roots and yea levar was good, but he looks nothin like jb, and can he even dance?
the more i think about it the more i lean toward diamondpearl1's idea: a documentary

i'd think that Ben Vereen (Chicken George in "Roots") would make a better impression on JB than LeVar Burton would..
