1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

Shit, thousands. I really don't know. Maybe I'll do an inventory.

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

Probably Lovesexy by Prince. Or Low by David Bowie.

3. which artist do you have the most by?

Prince. There's so much!

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

Dunno. I love guitars. So probably rock.

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they?

Gosh, most of it. I kinda focus on one artist at a time. Some of the ones that have gone the longest with no love are Milli Vanilli and Paula Abdul. lol

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...

I have these wooden crates where I separate my favorite artists into segments. The artists I have less by I keep in these little plastic tubs. I keep bootlegs, mix discs given to me by friends and projects I've made separately. Oh, and I have CD books for CD-R's.

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

I'm pretty vocal about what I like. Probably no real shockers. My super Christian Aunt Kathie was a bit disturbed by the Peaches CD she came across after she read the titles and actually looked at the booklet. eek

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Umm. On here? Dunno. Maybe Rio's demos. wink

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

Nope. Never.

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

Nope. Never.

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

Nothing at the moment. There are some rare vinyl EP's by Joy Division and some Prince promo CD's I'd like though.

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album?

It's gotta be a bootleg. I'm not sayin'.

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own?

The Rest of New Order is like 80:01. I've burned compilations up to about 95 minutes.

14. do you lend out music?

Yes. Lots. But most often, I give it.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

Buy most. Download the rare and live stuff.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

I used to be a total vinyl head. Still love it. But never play it or purchase it much anymore.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

Maybe the good compilations I've made at this point. I'm so used to listening to things how I like them, that I a lot of times don't go back to the source discs once I get my own project perfected. I really value my rare Prince stuff though. And my iPod.

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?

Everyone? Probably nothing. I have lots of promos, lots of vinyl, lots of great videos, lots of rare concerts. I'm definitely a completist, so if anything, people might have the inclination to kill when they saw how thorough I am. giggle

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd?

10 to 12 bones

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?

Absolutely. I have about 20 artists that I'm like that with.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

Nobody's. Cuz music theft is the worst. But I had a lot of fun going through Anxiety's a few weeks back. mr.green

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own? Over 300

2. which ONE is your all time favourite? Can't say. Too many in my collection that I love.

3. which artist do you have the most by? Janet Jackson, naturally.

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music? Pop/R&B/dance pop

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they? Queen Latifah - Nature of a Sista (1992) & Xscape - Hummin' Comin' At 'Cha (1993)

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc... No real order. Been too busy. Try to group an artist's work together.

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it? Not sure.

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about. Joan Armatrading - The Key (1983)

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended? I used to when I used it, but I mostly play 99.7% of my music digitally through MP3s. I've updated most of my CD collection to MP3.

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection? With a lot of physical CDs, sure. Not the imports and rarities, though*!

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on? Right now, I'm looking for the "Together Again" white labels on CD by Janet.

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album? $35.00 (+ tax)

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own? Dunno.

14. do you lend out music? If I do, it's digitally. Other than that, h*ll no. I will not risk having my CDs scratched anymore. You have to be a super close friend with good credit. LOL.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything? Mostly DL, but I buy physical CDs from my my very favorite artists or new or underground talent that I'm trying to support.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?' I don't collect vinyl.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why? Not an album, but Janet's Live In Hawaii DVD, because after I met her, she personally FedEx'd it to me with a card attached saying "With compliments, Janet Jackson." I still have the box it came in and her card is bubble wrapped. smile

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for? Well for those Janet fans out there, I have the Japanese Rhythm Nation: The Remixes Maxi. Drool now*!

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd? $9.99 or less.

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..? With Janet I have all of her domestic studio albums, most import projects, scattered singles. I'm trying to build up my Jan singles collection.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid? VinnyM27, because every time he types on this forum, he's always coming back from the record store with something*! Mr. Cinnie Cee always got something new, too.

heart your surveys Chico. clapping

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own? I have around 8,000 vinyl albums, and probably an additional 1500 or so on the other formats.

2. which ONE is your all time favourite? Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan.

3. which artist do you have the most by? Bob Dylan

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music? British punk/new wave, followed closely by mid-sixties British Invasion.

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they? Well, I've got loads of very dicey albums from my teenaged years that no sane person would ever want to listen to. In terms of decent music I actually enjoy, I haven't listened to any of my Replacements or Husker Du albums in over ten years.

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc... Alphabetical

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it? My Merle Haggard records, I guess - people are usually pretty surprised to find out how much I love country music.

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about. Horsebreaker Star by Grant McLennan - almost a perfect album, some of the best pop songwriting you'll ever hear. Think Lennon/McCartney at their peak, and you'll have an understanding of how this album manages to be effortlessly diverse and uniformly excellent.

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended? Not generally - I've never had playback problems with any of my albums in any format, except for getting the occasional scratch on my compact discs due to clumsiness.

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection? I'm going to dump my vinyl one day when I work up the courage. It's consuming too much space and I rarely dip into it anymore. I'll keep some of the albums I really love, of course, but I'm sure I could lose 95% of it without losing too much sleep.

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on? I'd love to find a good vinyl pressing of Wire's 154.

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album? I paid $40.00 in 1987 for a copy of PiL's metal box, but that's a multi-album set. Single disc - I paid about $35.00 for an imported copy of Scott Walker's Tilt.

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own? Single disc? That would probably be the re-issue of the first two Faust albums on one CD. I'm not sure of the exact playing time.

14. do you lend out music? Yes, though I don't do it much now that downloading is so prevalent. If you recommend something to someone, it's usually just easier for them to go and d/l a few samples.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything? I buy quite a lot - but mostly just obscurities that aren't readily available online - i.e. the Can re-issues, the Go-Betweens, things like that.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?' - I don't buy it much anymore unless I stumble across a real find that I'm unable to resist.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why? Oh, there are three or four albums that I think are absolutely perfect - as for one 'part', I think the Undertones' Teenage Kicks is the most perfect pop song of all time. - and the second side of Kind of Blue is flawless, of course...

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for? Not many, really - out of all my vinyl, I think I really only have two collectables:

- An original copy of PIL's Metal Box with the track listing and the metal canister in perfect condition.

- A Japanese boxed set of the first 8 Clash singles.

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd? I don't mind paying a lot for compact discs if the product is high quality. I've paid $30-$40 without regret for imports that I strongly desired.

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..? No - I don't buy singles or rarities in general. Even with my favourites (Dylan, The Fall, My Bloody Valentine) I've never cared too much about having the b-sides, or live recordings. I'm usually content with the domestic albums.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid? Can't really say - though Paligap and The Audience strike me as having imposingly vast collections.

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

Probably somewhere around 400 or so... I think hmmm

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

1999 by Princey giggle

3. which artist do you have the most by?

P, of course batting eyes

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

Some kind of R&B hybrid sound shrug (think P, MeShell, TTD)...

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they?

Everything in the Rap section, I rarely pull those out. But if you want specifics, anything by Babyface or Chante Moore...

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...

By genre, then individual artist...

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

I don't think anything would shock them, they know I like lots of stuff. Maybe a gospel album by Aretha Franklin would raise a brow, they know I don't get all church too often lol innocent

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Anything by TTD/Sananda, he's criminally underrated!

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

evillol only when they don't play right...

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

HELL NO! music

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

Nothing. I have a running list of stuff I intend to buy that I've kept/ checked off/added to for years but nothing pressing. I used to be feverish about Prince b-sides & stuff but I have most of that now...

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album?

Probably ONA Live ($50) or my Billie Holiday box set, it was close to the same price I believe...

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own?

Hell, I dunno. What's Prince's longest? 1999 or SOTT? confused

14. do you lend out music?

NO for the most part... my cousin will raid me every now & again, knowing there's certain artists not to even ask about chair

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

Both - if I like more than one song I'll usually buy it but if I'm picking & choosing I'll d/l. I'm goofy, I like to see the artwork & stuff lol Downloads feel so incomplete...

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

I still have my vinyl from way back but I no longer purchase it unless I just can't get it in any other form. The last piece of vinyl I bought was by The Time for that b-side "Tricky"...

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

Hard question. Today I'll say my boot of the SOTT movie b/c "Forever In My Life" puts me in an unbelievable trance. I don't think I own anything else that makes me feel that way exclaim

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?

Everything I have I got from someone else lol I don't think anyone but a complete & utter newb would envy my collection smile giggle

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd?

For a GOOD cd, I can see $15 but most are so shitty. Most should be priced @ $10...

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?

Yea sigh

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

I'd rather just have a month long listening party w/ The Audience. He knows so much about so many different styles, I'd be blown away smile
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

VoicesCarry

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

About 1000.

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

All my Janet stuff biggrin

3. which artist do you have the most by?

Janet Jackson

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

R&B/soul

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they?

Monica - After The Storm
Natalie Imbruglia - Left Of The Middle

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...

A-Z by artists

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

Nothing shocks my family lol But it might shock some orgers to know I own Ashanti's debut album (Cost: $0.01 Verdict: not worth it lol).

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Blue Angel - Blue Angel. This was Cyndi Lauper's first outing (in 1980) with her band. It's recently been remastered and reissued on CD by Hip-O-Select. It's very similar in tone to Blondie's Parallel Lines, released one year earlier, but it's more oriented to the girl group sound of the 60's. Contains the original (and far superior) versions of Maybe He'll Know and I'm Gonna Be Strong, which Cyndi recut for solo projects later.

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

I never clean my CD's because I don't need to. They're all stored in PVC sleeves and kept on the shelf. I only open them once - to copy them to my hard drive (vinyl as well). I then listen to digital copies and make CD-R's as required.

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

Nope.

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

A 1995 12-track A&M Studios gold CD-R acetate of Janet Jackson's Runaway that features all the vinyl-only mixes (Silk's Old Skool 12'', Junior's Chant Mix, etc.) plus some unreleased mixes (Jam & Lewis Houseparty Mix).

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album?

The most I've ever spent on a single album would be $163.50 CAD for a Japanese promo picture CD edition of Janet Jackson's Control.

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own?

Well, many albums I own top out at 80 minutes, so I can't really make that distinction.

14. do you lend out music?

No.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

Buy, don't download. If I download, it's to preview.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

I still collect it.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

I have a 1996 showreel CD from the Love To Infinity dudes called United States Of Paradise. It contains two unreleased mixes of Janet Jackson's Love Will Never Do (Without You) that were intended for the cancelled '96 rerelease of that track. They have never been issued anywhere else (on CD or vinyl) so I treasure it. Thankfully, they're excellent mixes. The CD also has LTI mixes (some unreleased) from MJ (They Don't Care About Us), Cheryl Lynn (Got To Be Real), Taylor Dayne (Say A Prayer), etc.

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?

Well, my rarities are rather artist-specific, so I'll talk about some of them. These are the main artists I collect.

JANET

The above CD, and:

-Start Anew b/w Hold Back The Tears - Japanese promo 7''

-Come On Get Up - Japanese promo CD
-If - US 3-track "Adult Mixes" promo CD
-Runaway - US 1-track gold CD-R acetate with Junior Vasquez Edit (4:22) - otherwise unreleased

plus a bunch of other stuff

MADONNA

-Like A Prayer - US full promo CD w/ gold emblem disc, "Facts About AIDS" sheet and patchouli oil scent intact

DONNA SUMMER

-Live And More - Japanese full promo sample CD w/ full original tracklisting, including the full original MacArthur Park Suite (not the edited version on the Bad Girls Deluxe Edition)

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd?

$9.99 CAD - and you can get them for that price where I live (on first week of release)

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?

With Janet, I do. Otherwise, no.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

CinisterCee or theAudience's.

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

Like, 500 and over

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

Probably something out of my Madonna collection

3. which artist do you have the most by?

Madonna

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

I can appreciate everything

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they?

Hmmmm, probably the 2 Aqua cds, and i haven't played them in a long time for obvious reasons

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...

By Madonna, and everything else

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

Britney Spears: Greatest Hits, because i used to bash her a lot, but that cd is great for the hits

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Jann Arden: Love is the only soldier. In fact, anything by Jann Arden. She is a wonderful Canadian talent and is quite overlooked outside of Canada. It's all about Jann

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

No

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

No

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

None, i have everthing i want

I'm thinking like, 70 dollars, but im not sure

Emancipation by Prince

14. do you lend out music?

Yes, to my old gay best friend. Now we're not gay buddies, so no.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

If it's Madonna or Prince i'll buy it. Anyone else doesn't deserver my hard earned cash

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

Everything Madonna on vinyl, and now im collecting all of Prince

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

I treasure all my cds and stuff. A lot of money is in that collection

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?

Probably nothing out of the blue

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd?

Like, less than $20 (Canadian) because i won't dish out anymore than that. Except for you Madonna wink

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?

Madonna yes
everyone else no

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

VoicesCarry for any Madonna stuff i don't have. I deserve it more wink

It's beyond me why she didn't break out in the US with the Living Under June LP. I also like "I Would Die For You".
