1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

damn.....ummm...thousands .....I'm afraid to actually start countin'....

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

Lol!! I can't pick only one..

3. which artist do you have the most by?

got to be Prince, especially if you include all the...what do they call'em now... "unofficial" recordings?

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

Funk/Jazz/Pop/Rock/Soul--I like artists that are a combination of the genres....

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they? Yellowjackets - Mirage A Trois and Gary McFarland - Scorpio and Other Signs

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...

By Artist, By Year

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

The New Mickey Mouse Club (1976)

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Rotary Connection: Songs/Hey Love

and anything by Lewis Taylor...

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

Probably Not

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

Nope...Even if I did, I'd end up taking the money and buying the same shit all over again...

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

Not desperate, but I'd like to get the alternate mixes of Sly Stone's "Fresh" album...

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album? $100

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own?

maybe Prince's Emancipation

14. do you lend out music?

I usually just make copies now...

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

buy, usually....although there was a time..."sniff" (remembering the good ol' days of audiogalaxy touched)....

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

Still collecting it, but not as aggresively as in the past...

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

That's a hard one... probably Narada Michael Walden's "Awakening": partly because I heard it at such a great time in my life-- just coming out of grade school, first girlfriend, etc., but also because for me, side 2 of the album was a crash course Mix of Jazz-Rock/Fusion, Latin, R&B/Soul/Pop, ballads, and String arrangements (and great guitar by Carlos Santana, Ray Gomez, and Hiram Bullock!)...

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?
lol well, nothing that anybody would Kill for (I hope)....!

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd? 10 bucks

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?
Not yet...

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

theAudience, Psykosoul, and Finess---I know they got the Serious crates!!

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own? Albums, not including singles? Maybe 1,300 CDs and 200 records. If you add maxi and 12" singles, those numbers jump up to 1,500 CDs and 3,000 records maybe.

2. which ONE is your all time favourite? That's a tough one. I couldn't begin to speculate.

3. which artist do you have the most by? CDs: Prince or Tori Amos--both of them take up more than one whole shelf each. Records: Prince or Janet Jackson--all those 12" singles add up.

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music? It used to be goth easily, but now I don't know. Something that still sounds dark and sinister but melodic--I think Deadsy's sound is pure bliss so I guess that would make my favorite genre 'new wave doom metal'.

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they? Christian Death - 'All The Love' & 'All The Hate' CDs. I've never listened to them at all and I've owned them for several years. I bought the European box set at the height of my gothdom because I knew it was rare, but was never actually motivated to put those crappy discs in my CD player. Valor was way past his prime by then.

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc... Style first and then alphabetically.

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it? Probably one of the classic country ones. Maybe 'The Ultimate Dolly Parton Vol.2'.

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about. Nellie McKay - 'Get Away From Me'. It's fantastic.

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended? Clean?

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection? No.

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on? NPG's 'Gold Nigga'(16-track)

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album? You don't wanna know.

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own? One of the box sets obviously. Prince's 'Crystal Ball' has five discs in it. Maybe that one.

14. do you lend out music? Reluctantly sometimes.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything? I don't download. That's against the laws of nature.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?' Only 12" singles which make up most of my vinyl collection.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why? My burned copies of Prince's 'The Work Vols. 1-5'. Do those count since they are burned and not official albums? I treasure it the most because there's just so damn much on it.

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for? I think in the age of the Internet and downloading, I don't have anything that anyone would really kill for that they can't find online somewhere. Maybe Prince's aforementioned 'The Work' or his 'Undertaker' official CD are the ones other people might want the most.

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd? $10-$12.

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..? Every song, but not every configuration. That isn't necessary.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid? I'm pretty happy with my own. No one else I've met on the org has musical interests similar to mine.

I realized I maybe answered this wrong. I was thinking of the longest single disc I had in my collection. But if we're talking multi-disc projects, it would have to be one of the many Miles Davis box sets I have in my collection I'm guessing.

no. you were right. i should've made it clearer. the longest playing SINGLE disc. but whatever. shrug

interesting thread that i missed while on vacation smile

1. approximately how many albums (cd, vinyl etc..) do you own?

I'm not sure, but i usually approximate around 3500 purchased cds, an a bunch of mp3s, burned discs, compilations, etc. I still have a small vinyl collection as well.

2. which ONE is your all time favourite?

If I really had to pick one album - to be my favorite - both musically and for the meaning it has, I would have to go with Disintegration by the Cure. It moved me in a way no other album ever has, and it really defined a period in my life.

3. which artist do you have the most by?

Prince I would guess..

4. what is your favourite style/genre of music?

I would have to say New Wave.

5. take this moment to think of 2 albums from your collection that you've not played in quite some time. which 2 are they?

I need to dig out my Erasure CDs and give "Wild!" a spin. Great disc. Also: haven't played any Kate Bush in a while.

6. how do you catagorize your collection? a-z by artists? by style? etc...
A thru P are all alphabetized by artist. R thru z are in stacks by letter. Then i have piles of the most recent stuff I have bought just sitting out of order, which makes it hard to find stuff sometimes. Compilations and soundtracks are separate.

7. what album in your collection would shock your family and friends to know that you actually own or even liked it?

probably Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. But i'm a huge Maiden fan!!!

8. recommend an album you feel more people should know about.

Human Drama, "The World Inside". One of the most beautiful acoustic-driven rock albums ever recorded.

9. do you clean your cd player and cds as recommended?

Nope

10. for the right price: would you or could you part with your collection?

Sure, but it would be a HIGH price. Almost everything is replaceable these days, w/ the internet.

11. what album, single, etc...are you desperately trying to get your hands on?

Well I really want the Red Rockers "Good as Gold" CD, and also Peter Schilling's "Error in the System".

12. what is the most you've ever spent on a single album?

Probably $40.00 on a bootleg.

13. which is the longest (playing time) album you own?

I don't know, interesting question... i guess it would be the largest box set i have, which i think is that ultimate 80's box set that Rhino put out a couple years ago.

14. do you lend out music?

Very rarely. I tend to make mix CDs or share a song or two via AIM more often. I like to try and expose some of the music I love to others so that they will take interest in the artist.

15. do you still buy music or just download everything?

I always buy all of my music, except for things that aren't available to buy, or the random song here and there that someone sends me.

16. vinyl: 'i still collect it' or 'what's vinyl?'

Everyone once in a while I will buy an LP or single.

17. which part or single album do you treasure the most and why?

I have this fantastic picture Disc of the Cure's Disintegration that I adore, because it's so beautiful. My most treasured though has to be my copy of Strange Little Girls that Tori Amos autographed for me in 2001 in Nashville.

18. what rarity do you have that you know everyone else would just about kill for?

I tend not to know what is very valuable or rare... so I'm not sure. I have lots of rarities, but I don't know if I have anything bizarrely rare.

19. what do YOU feel would be a fair price for a new cd?

$9.99 usually suckers me in.

20. with your favourite artist/s: do you have to have every album, single, import, etc..?

Yes. I am an obsessive completist, with two exceptions: remixes and live tracks.

21. which orger's music collection would you love to steal or raid?

There are quite a few with impressive collections and music knowledge. Off the top of my head: Tron, Gangstafam, Moonbeam, NWF, sextonseven, anxiety, bratchildsfriend, and many others that I can't think of right now smile
