Holiday - Celebrate - If we Took a Holiday

music music

Shit, this song puts me in a good mood.
Sure, it's poppy and cheesy, but it was back before Madonna was foolin' herself into thinking she was an "artist".

What song puts U in an instant good mood? Why?

I know some of you skanky people have got some goooood stories to tell. smile

Holiday is a great gay song. If you go to a gay club and this song is played, the dancefloor always fills and everyone just gets so fucking gay, and feel good.

I'm tired of "Holiday".I hope Madonna retires it from her future concerts. It's overplayed.Sure,it was a fun song in the 80s,but I'm just sick of it boxed

One of the disappointments of her 'Reinvention Tour' was the last two songs,"Music" and "Holiday".It was predictable and uninspired. How cool would it have been if she had closed the show with two other songs, like "Dress You Up" or "Everybody",songs that are rarely heard on Madonna tours these days?

Yeah, the last 2 tours had very uninspiring "holidays"

Dress you up was originally on the bill for the RIT, but replaced with Material Girl. It would be nice to hear it again though.

I'm sorta with you on this. I like Holiday a great deal, but I get tired of it sometimes. I know for sure that I prefer the You Can Dance version to the original. I also love the remix of Into the Groove from the same album. That added piano break is classic!

"Dress You Up" would have been a nice surprise. But it was cool hearing "Material Girl" too.Did you know that "Swim" was supposed to be in the setlist, but it was replaced by "Frozen"? And "Nothing Really Matters" was planned as the second song, but it was replaced by "Nobody Knows Me".Jamie King (the choreographer) also confirmed that "I'm So Stupid" was a part of the original setlist, and that he fought hard to keep it,but it was ultimately rejected.

Oops, sorry for going off-topic here lol

It's funny...I never get tired of "Into The Groove",even though it is overplayed.I think that song kills anything else on her debut album.

I love her debut album (I just listed it as a favorite in another thread), and Into the Groove would have fit perfectly on it.

I just listened to her debut album today. The production on it definately overpowers the 2 following but more successful albums.

Still one of her top 5 best songs IMO. Just pure pop. I didnt like the 2 versions much on the last tours, my favourite is easily the Blond Ambition tour version.

I dont believe she'll ever retire it from her concerts. Its her trademark song. Elton John says he's perfromed Your Song at every one of his concerts since he 1st released it, i think madonna should do the same. It must be hard to think up new versions, but id be happy if she played something close to the original.

Can you imagine the response she'd get if she put on a concert and failed to include holiday - there'd be an outcry.

I agree she shouldn't retire it, but maybe she should put it around the beginning or middle of the show instead of ending off with it.
