Neil Finn US Concert Dates Announced!!!!

Neil Finn used to lead Crowded House in the 80's. They had the song Don't Dream It's Over (Hey Now Hey Now). If he tours with Wendy & Lisa they'll have to pick me up off the floor and mop up the puddle.

Neil hooked up with Wendy & Lisa for his latest release, "One All" (to be released May 21). W&L's influence is present all over (trademark drifting jazzy piano solos...ethereal backup vocals) the CD and is a perfect match for Neil's sound. It's dark, it's sublime, it's jangly, and it's pure pop. If you liked Eroica and Girl Bros, don't miss out on One All.

Neil Finn is probably one of the few people that could give Prince a run for his money. Don't flame me for saying this unless you have even bothered to listen to his work. They have completely different styles but they are similar in that:

- They stay true to their own sound (Neil has never rapped though...thank god)
- They have been around since the 70's (Neil fronted two bands before going solo)
- They have a massive body of work
- They are widely respected by other musicians
- They both are great guitarists
- They are both incredible live musicians.

Some people claim that Neil Finn's catalogue doesn't have a single bad song in it. If you want to try some of his music, I recommend:

"Are there any other artists?! You must be joking.....4 real? Nah..not 4 me wink"

That sez it all. You shouldn't have even bothered with this thread. This *is* the music/Non-Prince area. Go crawl back under yer (Graffiti) bridge ya troll.

Neil rocks. I'd like to see Prince put out as consistently solid an album as "One Nil." Oh, wait -- he'd have to work with Wendy and Lisa again to do that...

I don't know. I asked his website, why stuff like the title and artwork were being changed, and the reply said it was the record company's decision. rolleyes

They replaced a couple of tracks for the US release, and had Bob Clearmountain remix the entire CD. (not dancemix). They also re-did the artwork for the CD...still kind of looks the same, but not as good as the original IMO.

Hope it gets him some much deserved attention here in the states. The music scene here is very sad.

I went to a Neil Finn solo concert and he was fan-bloody-tastic. He did songs from each stage in his career. His voice is perfect and he is a true musician - his guitar playing is mesmerising. His onstage personality is a joy too. A real star.

Note to self: make no plans the mid week of July..looks like I will be touring the east coast - my hood - trying to get a glimpse of Wendy. And I do believe there may be more than one puddle on the floor. Hell who knows, maybe if enough of us get together we can make a "Rainbow Lake"! (I know...really bad pun, sorry) razz
