Aaaah, I'm a big T-Rex fan anyway, and "Children Of The Revolution" is definately one of my faves from them. Released in 72, this song is just, to me, very cool. Great lyrics, "I have a Rolls Royce, cuz it's good for my voice". That's one of THE coolest lines in a song, EVER. The chorus is killing as well. This song came out at the peak of Bolanmania, for little Marc at this time was HUGE! Bolan was still bigger than Bowie at this point, although Bowie was closing in with his Ziggy. But for that moment, in England anyway, Bolan and his T-Rex ruled! Who else here digs "Children Of The Revolution"?

Other favorites are "Jeepster", "Mambo Sun", "20th Century Boy", "The Groover" "Telegram Sam"

i luv me some t.rex - i wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but i've gotten a lot of mileage out of the best-of compilation that i own. i'd love one day to read something by bowie going way in depth into his friendship with marc bolan. i find their whole dynamic pretty fascinating.

Didn't he die in a car crash? He's definitely one of the originators of Glam Rock. I read somewhere he was a huge Hendrix fan.

Now that you mention Prince's "Cream" and how it sounds like "Bang a Gong" bg, I was actually thinking about these two songs and how they are similar just a couple of weeks ago. Also for the lyrics, and how they're sung very much in the same way:

Nobody seemed to know that me. I taped T-Rex's version and brought it to school. Everyone was blown away that the song already existed. I schooled everybody at school!

Exactly. The very first time I heard "Cream", I thought "Damn, that sounds so familiar." It drove me crazy for about 4 or 5 listens, untill finally it hit me. "That's fucking "Bang a Gong"!" After I realized it, and listen to "Cream" again, it was crystal clear that P bit off of that song and wasn't even trying to hide it.
