What ever happened to Madonna's Dancers Jose and Luis

Its been since 1993, when Jose and Luis Made a Hell of an entrance with Madonna at her "Sex" book release party in NYC!

The two were walked on dog leashes by Madonna.
These two latino's were Madonna's best dancers and were very close with the singer...its been over 10 years now, and the twosome...who recorded the club hit "Queen's English" featuring Madonna on background vocals...have seemed to disappear from the Scene...

So can someone who knows the history of Madonna's Boy Toys JOSE AND LUIS...tell me...whatever happened to these guys?

*You may remember them as her dancers and notably on the Mtv Banned "Like a virgin" concert video...from the world famous Truth or Dance Documentary.

Truth Or Dare Screening: She had a lot to prove
Posted: 28 April 2005
madonnalicious visitor Ryan attended the Truth Or Dare screening in Los Angeles last night. The screening was introduced by Luis Camacho, one of the Blond Ambition dancers, who spoke about working with Madonna and how he got the job on the tour. Here is Ryan's great account of last night:

I was only 12 when this movie came out, so my parents did not let me see it in the theatres. I've seen it as an adult, but it is AMAZING how different it is when viewed on the big screen. The concert footage, in brilliant color, makes you feel like you're actually there. I found it interesting that Express Yourself in the movie was dubbed with the album version vocals....I guess she didn't like her live voice on that song.

There was a special guest to introduce the movie....Luis Camacho, one of the more visible backup dancers on the Blond Ambition tour, as well as in the Vogue video. I remember seeing him in Truth or Dare years ago and feeling alienated by how flamboyant he was about his sexuality. I must say he has improved greatly with age....he was very attractive and well-spoken. He didn't seem to have scripted his introduction....he just spoke from the heart about his experiences on the tour.
He told of how he and his friends made a home-movie showing their dance moves, including Vogue-ing, which was popular in gay clubs at the time. His best friend's boyfriend was somehow connected to Debi Mazar, who got the video to Madonna. He said she saw it, loved it, and called him personally as soon as she'd seen it. He had a contract to perform in some other show, but she didn't want to wait for him to be available, so she bought him out of the contract and flew him immediately out to LA to start rehearsals for the tour. He said he still keeps in touch with her, but it is sporadic because she is so busy now.

He says he is often asked if she was a bitch. He says that at that point in her career she had a lot to prove. She had never undertaken such a huge project before, and with this tour she wanted the best costumes, the best sets, the best choreography. He says she acted like an extremely driven person who knew what she wanted, and if that seemed like a bitch, then so be it. But, he also mentioned what a hard worker she was. She would get up before any of the dancers and after rehearsal, she'd head to band practice or other activities. He says she went to bed long after the rest of the crew was asleep.
I really appreciated what he had to say, and it was a great surprise that he was there for the screening.

On a more personal note, he mentioned how self-centered he was back when the movie was originally released and how he was more concerned about fitting into his Valentino cat suit than inviting his mother to the premiere. He flew his mom and some other family members all the way from New York to be present for the screening tonight, as a way of making up to them that they didn't attend the premiere. That seemed very meaningful and moving.

After the movie, Amoeba records hosted a Madonna karaoke. There were some amazing performers (and some lousy ones as well). There an open bar, which made the lousy karaoke singers more bearable. What a fun night!

Here is picture of Ryan (on the left), Luis and Ryan's friend Raoul (on the right).

Suit Filed by Ex-Madonna Beau Rejected
Gay-marriage Law Used by Judge in Dismissal

Boston Globe, May 29, 2004
Box 2378, Boston, MA 02107
Fax: 617-929-2098
Email: letter@globe.com

By Shelley Murphy, Globe Staff

A federal judge yesterday dismissed a lawsuit filed by a former bodyguard and boyfriend of Madonna, rejecting his claim that a photograph in a book and two publications was defamatory because it misidentified him as a gay man.

US District Judge Nancy Gertner, relying in part on the Supreme Judicial Court’s November ruling legalizing gay marriage, said that being identified as gay is not defamatory.

“In 2004, a statement implying that an individual is a homosexual is hardly capable of a defamatory meaning,” she wrote. “. . . In fact, a finding that such a statement is defamatory requires this Court to legitimize the prejudice and bigotry that for too long have plagued the homosexual community.”

James Albright, who had a two-year relationship with Madonna that began in the early 1990s, claimed his Boston-based security business suffered because of a caption under a photograph of Madonna with a gay man that wrongly identified Albright as that man.

In her 23-page opinion, Gertner said the SJC ruling and a recent ruling by the US Supreme Court striking down sodomy laws “undermine any suggestion that a statement implying that an individual is a homosexual is defamatory.”

Gertner dismissed the $1 million lawsuit that Albright and Amrak Productions Inc., which had employed Albright as a bodyguard, filed in 2002 against Andrew Morton, Madonna’s British biographer; Michael O’Mara; Michael O’Mara Books Ltd.; St. Martin’s Press; Time Inc.; and Newsgroup Newspapers.

In his suit, Albright said that the photograph that ran in the biography “Madonna,” in People Weekly in 2001, and in Newsgroup’s international publication “News of the World” in 2002 was of Jose Guitierez, a former employee of the singer.

The suit alleged that Guitierez was an outspoken homosexual who “clearly represents his homosexual ideology in what many would refer to as sometimes graphic and offensive detail.”

Guitierez appeared in the television documentary of Madonna’s life, “Truth or Dare,” and also appeared with Madonna on two worldwide tours.

Albright claimed in his suit that while appearing with Madonna, Guitierez often dressed as a woman and engaged in acts on stage that “some would find homosexual, sexually graphic, lewd, lascivious, offensive, and possibly illegal.”

But Gertner wrote that in the photograph of Guitierez that misidentified him as Albright, he was dressed in black pants, a shirt, a black leather jacket, and was wearing tinted glasses, an earring, and a string necklace with a pendant. “Nothing in the photograph suggests that he is gay,” she wrote.

The judge also noted that the book devotes an entire chapter to Albright’s affair with Madonna, describing their sexual encounters, their desire to marry and have children, and Albright’s “fling” with another woman that led to his breakup with Madonna.

The judge also said that even if the photograph suggested Albright were homosexual, it would not discredit him or be considered defamatory.

As for Albright’s claim that his business had suffered damage, Gertner said he had not alleged any specific professional opportunity that he had lost or professional criticism he had received because of the wrong caption.

“Without some specific claim of actual harm, he is doing nothing more than trading in the same kinds of stereotypes that recent case law and good sense disparage,” Gertner concluded.

oh my god!! oh my god!!!

the pic that started all this drama:

The defendants published a biography about the singer Madonna, which contained information about Madonna's former bodyguard and boyfriend, James Albright, who was compensated for the rights to his information. In his lawsuit, Albright did not challenge the manner in which he was portrayed in the text portion of the book, the court said. Rather, he based his complaint on a photograph, and its accompanying caption, which also appeared in excerpts published in People Weekly and News of the World. The photograph shows Madonna and former employee Jose Guitierez, with the caption "Madonna attends ex-lover Prince's concert with her secret lover and one-time bodyguard Jimmy Albright (left). Albright … enjoyed a stormy three-year relationship with the star. They planned to marry, and had even chosen names for their children." According to the court, the People Weekly caption read "Jim Albright (with Madonna in 1993) told [author] Morton he felt 'overwhelming love' for her."

funny you ask that because in the search ads that were posted for Vogue her people specifically asked for male dancers that werent "nelly".

uhh...id say Slam and Carlton were the only two who fit that bill..Even the one straight dancer, Oliver, was a lil light in his loafers..

I haven't thought of these guys in years. I remember a few years after Truth or Dare seeing a guy I could have sworn up and down was Jose working in a clothing store but I never bothered to try and get a look up close. I use to see them at the clubs or Willie Ninja voguing before voguing was vogue. Remember the song they came out with? I think Junior Vasquez produced it.
