Prince and Trent Reznor

I doubt this would happen now, but what would have happened if "Come"-era/Dark/angry Prince collaborated with Trent Reznor?

Prince was apparently ardent to have Reznor remix some of his songs from the early 90s (I think "319" might have been one). He even came to a studio where Reznor was recording at the time to discuss the project, but for some reason when he met Reznor at a corridor he just walked past him without saying anything! End of deal. It's a bizarre story, but it was told by Trent Reznor himself. He might have not been able to recognize him or something (who knows maybe he didn't have his contacts on?), but Reznor was extremely infuriated by the incident (wouldn't you be?). He has kept praising Prince's music over the years though.

Prince wanted Trent to remix "Loose!" for him... But I guess everyone knows what happened to that idea...

Pretty Hate Machine owes a lot to early Prince and Reznor even thanked Prince in the liner notes.

Now that NIN's stuff is a little more poppy, it'd be really cool to see the two of them collaborate on a track.

PHM also has a sample from "Alphabet St" on "Ringfinger".

Yes, "Loose" was the track, and apparently Prince DIDN'T recognize Trent when he was at the studio (guess Prince assumes everyone else dresses the same way in their everyday life as they do on stage). Trent was pissed, but he's easily aggravated. If it were me, I woulda just laughed and said "oh well! That's Prince for you!"

Imagine how cool "Loose" woulda been if Trent had remixed it!

It already sounds as close to industrial dance as Prince gets. A fitting song for Trent to do. Too bad it didn't happen.

It would have made my head spin.

Then again, if it ever actually happened, it probably wouldn't have lived up to my extremely high expectations. When big names collaborate they tend to choke more often than not. This being only a remix project, it might have survived the odds though.

nod Since , Prince is more spritually aligned and is doing less dark music., I doubt if he would work with Trent. Wow. If he could've, this would've been a hell of a combo. I couldn't agree with you more about the angrey Prince who used synthesizers collaborating with Trent. This shit would have blew all of of us fam out of the water.

"Loose!" was better EBM, definitely more innovative, than most real EBM released at the time.

And I'm pretty sure Prince has no idea what EBM is. smile

Now that I think about it, I remember First Avenue having an EBM/Industrial/Club on a weekly basis for years. And I'm sure Prince has the hots for goth chicks so he might have visited there.
