You know what annoys me? When so-called Old School stations edit the flute solo from "Dazz"...no self-respecting, Old School radio station worth their salt edits ANYTHING from ANY old school classic!

Supa, that annoys me too!! It absolutely drives me crazy. We have a classic soul station in my area, and they always edit the songs. My biggest complaint is what they do to Heatwave's "Boogie Nights".They edit out the instrumental break in the middle of the song (you know...that haunting, brief Moog synth part). When they play Teena Marie's "Square Biz",they edit out her entire rap (!!),which is arguably the best part of the song.My feeling is,play the entire song or don't play it at all!

hmph!

I'm pretty sure that the guy that played flute for Brick is Sleepy Brown's(of Dungeon Family, Outkast, and Organized Noise fame) father.

A lesson for all bands that get complacent on gigs.

Many moons ago we were doing a gig at our home base club in Florida.
Being as the place was full of regulars, and we were the "shiznit" band for miles around, we were taking the gig for granted. During one of our breaks this group of guys came in and asked if they could sit in. Mind you at that time NO ONE who knew who we were sat in on our gigs. So we told them, "Have at it."

They started playing and one of their musicians proceeded to kill on flute, sax, trumpet and trombone.

Turns out the musician was Jimmy Brown and the group was Brick.

My face was red, I stood dejected redface
