String Quartet Tribute albums

This stuff is so gorgeous. I first heard the Nine Inch Nails tribute before a play at a community college. It was perfect for setting the mood. Right now I'm downloading the Tribute to Duran Duran and it's just beautiful. (I know, shame on me... I'm gonna buy it...) I want to get the tribute to Tori Amos too.

I'm trying to find a website or something that has them all listed... I found a good list on Amazon.com, but I don't know if it's complete. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have one too! I think these tributes are a testament to great songwriting... If a song translates well into a string quartet you know you're doing something right.

Anybody else a fan of these tributes? Which ones are your favorites?

These days everybody has a tribute....I saw where Good Charlotte has one out. eek why?! Anyway....I love the tribute to Peter Gabriel. That's the only tribute I've heard so far.

eek I found a website with a catalog... Everyone does have one, damn! Even Maroon 5... You would think they would wait until some artists have more hits.

Madonna has one, Depeche Mode, Jessica Simpson?!?! lol Very interesting. Prince doesn't have one... of course.

I could understand Depeche Mode's. Theirs could be interesting imo, but Jessica Simpson. giggle I didn't even know Bjork had two. I'm out of the loop with tribute albums. The Cure's seems like it would be pretty good, just because their music is emotional to begin with.

Have you guys heard the string quartet tribute to Dvorak? Or Mozart? Or Beethoven? All excellent. wink

Of course they are! I had the opportunity to see a string quartet live in college. It was quite a treat. My piano teacher also played viola and she was part of this group that came to perform for us. It was great.

To clarify, I was only laughing at Jessica's. I didn't know there were so many until I discovered the Duran Duran one today and thought I'd look it up. I totally want to get the Depeche Mode, Bjork and Nirvana ones.
