New Edition and Thelma Houston aren't freestyle. I made three freestyle comps that I'll post when I get home. I can't remember exactly what the tracklisting was right now.

It used to be called 'Latin hip-hop' back in the day. Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Sa-Fire, TKA, George Lamond, etc.

Yes those songs are freestyle, they have that same exact sound that Lisa Lisa had. That past 80's bleep boop almost techno sound to it.

Oh ok. Well how about Stevie B?
He is one of my biggest guilty pleasures. I love his stuff!

"Party Your Body"
"Spring Love"
"Because I Love You (The Postman Song)"

and there was this song called "Diamond Girl". Im not sure if that was him, but I think it was. He made some great late 80s, early 90s "freestyle". nod

Personally, I think it takes more than a few bloops and bleeps to make a real freestyle record, but what do I know?

I was never into freestyle but I got into these:

Any of SWEET SENSATION's Hits...I loved their cover of LOVE CHILD

Also liked Cover Girls' WE CAN'T GO WRONG (is there such a thing as a freestyle ballad?)
Let the rain come down...17 days....

Well if u put Lisa Lisa on any one of those records they can be counted as because its about the sound, not the artist.

Anyway..i dont know about this one but what about "The Men All Pause", or would that be closer to electro? I dont know kinda sounds both.. confuse

Hey guys im tryin 2 find these songs, aint none of em coming up damn. I gotta go 2 the weka sto and do sum lookin this weekend for more electro and freestyle

"The Men all pause" is far from techno....I would consider that like 80's r&b/funk....

Temptation - Corina

Can you feel the beat - Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam

Silent morning - Noel

Give me tonight - Shannon

Bad of the heart - George LaMond

Summer girls - Dino

Let's go - Nocera

I've never known what freestyle music exactly was. After reading some of the posts, would Chaka Khan's "My Love Is Alive" and Connie's "Funky Little Beat" be considered freestyle? Or what about Information Society's "Pure Energy"?

I always wondered why it was labeled that way considering that Shannon had hits way back in the early 80s with the same sound made by the same producers of a lot of the early 90s hits.

To me, real freestyle was almost exclusively a Latin thing (hence the original name 'Latin Hip-Hop'). It has it's roots in electro and other artists have made freestyle sounding records like Information Society's "Running" and Dead Or Alive's "Come Home With Me Baby", but the Latin artists really owned the sound.

Nah, they are on old school cassettes--three 90-minute tapes.
