Caushun the gay rapper

I couldn't tell you one song this guy has done. I commend his efforts, but is there a chance in hell that he could break through in hip-hop? Even if his work was finally respected one day, he'd be to old for marketability. This country is taking way too long to give gay male musicians a place at the table. 2005 and no fucking progress.

I heard snippets of stuff off of his site...he aiiight...he does prepetuate the whole gay thing though especially in the voice...I guess he is trying to market himself as soley the only gay rapper I believe he even has that title copyrighted.

I don't know why the hell a gay male would want to do rap and hip hop but to each their own. I honestly cannot think of another form of music that is more homophobic.

A lot of country and western music's audience has been extremely racist and if a black artist like Charlie Pride can be a major success in this genre, then that goes to show that anything is possible.

I wish Caushun all the success in the world. He will definately be fighting an uphill battle and I hope he wins, not only for making a great achievement for gay people but for my own devious reasons also. When gay people start making hip hop records, it might make it's listeners no longer consider it a "cool" form of music and maybe they will move on to something else. Remember when Ethel Merman made a disco record, silly songs like "Disco Duck" were released, and senior citizens started taking disco dance lessons. Disco was no longer considered "cool". Hip hop might suffer the same fate and die. I've been wishing Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler would make a rap record for years. Yes, I wish Caushun all the success in the world. I would even buy his album myself for this great cause. evillol

It's always been a "cool" form of music. And it's not a homophobic form of music just because homophobes have hijacked it. True artists don't promote hate. Furthermore, are you suggesting that an influx of gay performers would taint the genre and drive listeners away? Now THAT is homophobic. We should try to expand the playing field, not encourage the notion that gays have cooties. All the music industry needs is balance. 15 years ago, rap and pop and rock could co-exist on the airwaves.

it is highly unlikely that hip hop will die....it has already surpassed disco in many aspects 1. in longevity alone 2. in it's fan base. I just don't see Babs or Bette killing hip hop...even if they would have recorded rap records in the genres early stages when alot of people were saying stuff like "oh it's not real music,it's a fad,it won't be here long"...not even Fred Flinstone & Barney Rubble rapping about Fruity Pebbles were able to kill rap...

Gay Rapper its possible but not a gay Dancehall reggae artist. I think this dude could make it in hip hop but dont do any tours in Jamacia homie.

I think this dude is wack (gay or not). And the way he tried to remake the nas classic -"it aint hard to tell" pure blasphemy. If he did a 50 cent style name calling record ie "How to Rob" he my make a splash (and enemies along the way) Oh yeah HIp Hop was around before disco and is still here 35 years later. It didn't start with rappers delight that was just the first Rap Hit. THat was nine years in the making.

There's no denying that. For the last 15 years, it has been the general public's "cool" music or the "in" thing, so to speak.

And it's not a homophobic form of music just because homophobes have hijacked it. True artists don't promote hate.

No, it didn't used to be. We're not dealing with true artists any more.

Furthermore, are you suggesting that an influx of gay performers would taint the genre and drive listeners away? Now THAT is homophobic. We should try to expand the playing field, not encourage the notion that gays have cooties.

Look at all the homophobic rap songs out there and the listeners they are attracting. Most rappers all look and dress alike. There is absolutely no individuality in their dress. If one gay male made hip hop and looked the same way these hardcore rappers look, dressed the same way they do, and was openly gay, homophobic hardcore rappers would consider him a joke. But if his sales were decent and he influenced other gay males to start doing hip hop, then eventually you would get the flaming sissies doing it and if enough of them entered into this music and were actually selling albums, the hardcore rappers would then abandon it. The last thing a homophobic person wants, is to look, act, or have anything associated with anything "gay". Their ignorance would actually work against them.

No, it's not going anywhere soon. It has definately outlasted disco three times over. I think hip hop has lasted so long because it's listeners relate to it's "realness" or the fact that a lot of people can relate to someone that looks like someone they know rather than a "wild, outrageous looking" superstar. I used Barbara and Bette for examples as a joke. They would never be able to fit in with rap and make it.

I don't know though, if anything might bring hip hop down, it might be gay males entering into it. A lot of the disco backlash had a lot of homophobia too.

He is managed by Kimora Simmons (Darryl Simmons wife) of BABYPHAT (He use to do her hair too) anyway the album was meant to have dropped like 2 years ago

If he gotta play the gay angle, he must be missing something else. More importantly the hip hop audience ain't ready for that even if he could outflow nas. Imagine the avg hip-hop fan going in the record store their buddies to buy the cd from the gay rapper. Ain't happening.
