Name an album that you regret buying...

For me, its Jennifer Lopez - This is me...Then

I always wondered what I was smoking on when I bought this piece of crap. I only played it two times. Worst album I ever heard in my life. I even tried to force myself to listen to it because I had already wasted my money on it. Didn't work.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Was "Sweet Dreams" the song that went: "La da da dee da da da daaaaa.....La da da dee da da da DAAAAA!!!!" ? Because if it was, then yeah, the whole album sounded like that, but MUCH worse. shake

Most recently:

Adam Ant--Manners & Physique. Some of the crappiest cliche 80's sounding shit I've ever heard.

It was only $3, at least.

I really like her voice, so I bought the album back in the day.

The only two songs that I liked turned out to be the two radiohits. Same story with Angie Stone. I'm really sorry, but only Erykah Badu's debut was really worth my money (in that category, and I haven't checked out to many artists yet). That's a record I still play a lot.

You should've done like me and get it through the BMG or Columbia House music service. 12 CDs for a penny!

But, I must admit, even I sold my copy to a Used CD outlet. mad

lol I always think about selling it like that. It's sitting in my parent's basement somewhere. I'm sure I'd get about 10 cents for it though. lol

Yeah, that song sounds bad nowadays, but even I liked it back in the mid-90s. It was MOR/mainstream dance music. There was another song I liked on there by Le Click called "Tonight Is The Night." But that sounded like "Sweet Dreams," too. LOL.

Albums I regret purchasing:

  • Brian McKnight - Anytime (1997)
This is the #1 worst CD I ever purchased. I bought this because of the lead single "Anytime." Later, I come to learn that he stole the entire melody from Meshell Ndegeocello's 1993 track "Outside Your Door." I strongly despise him for going platinum with this CD by ripping off the song and not giving Meshell proper sample credits. In an interview, he said it was an original melody he composed -- false! He still hasn't paid Meshell for sampling her song for his biggest hit (while Meshell and her original version wallow in virtual obscurity).
  • Eminem - The Slim Shady LP (1999)
I was in high school. I was a teenager. Eminem JUST came out with the novelty tune "My Name Is" and I was like "wow, a white guy that can rap well." So, I bought his debut album. I liked the song "My Fault (Mushrooms)" and "Cum On Everybody" -- I actually gave this LP a glowing review when I wrote for my high school newspaper. LOL! This was before he became a certified a**hole with his follow-up. Man, times change.
  • E-40 - The Element of Surprise (1998)
Shame on Forty Water for putting out weak garbage like this. I think he was playing a joke on us when he released this as a double-LP. The album's somewhere lost in my brother's closet.
  • Destiny's Child - The Writing's On The Wall (1999)
Man, if only I discovered Napster a few months earlier...
  • Conscious Daughters - Gamers (1994)
"Funky Expedition" was the jam on this CD, but the rest of it was so lackluster. Didn't live up to the first single.
  • Salt-N-Pepa - Brand New (1997)
I can see why they broke up shortly after this album's release. The most tired rap album I've ever purchased -- and that's sad 'cause I really enjoyed S-N-P's prior work.
  • Total - Kima, Keisha & Pam (1998)
A case of me being bored in a record store one night, an impluse purchase.
  • Limp Bizkit - Significant Other (1999)
What was I thinking when I purchased this? I was in high school so that explains a lot. I bought this years ago and I haven't played it since the millennium began. I can't even name 2 tracks from the album.

Notice: all of these CDs date before 2000 (the year I discovered Napster). After that, I listened to ALL albums on the 'net before I bought them. The record companies call file sharing a curse, I say blessing.

Altogether, that's around $133.97 (give or take a couple of dollars) that's been kissed to high heaven. Invested in artists' car notes, estates, VIP wine parties, Matthew Knowles' restaurant tip, record execs' jet fuel payments, country club fees, etc.
