Whitney Houston's Pre4mance At The WMA-What Do U Think?

Whitney appeared to be really Focused & on-point with her performance last night. I'm proud of her, I hope she's not still on drugs,if she is,may God continue to place people in her life that will help her see the light.

I notice that Whitney does have to give it all she's got to get up there but if she gets the mind-set to stay clean & focused, then I believe she can be better than ever...

I'm still routing for Whitney. I had to smile when I saw her standing in the shadow, the woman still got it.

PLUS

I personaly do enjoy the NEW "Raspy/Husky" tune she's possessing nowadays. It gives her more earthiness, more edge, more effect & its MORE mature sounding.

I'd rather hear her singing like this INSTEAD of singing like Dionne Warwick, now you can tell a WHITNEY song right of as apposed to her previous music.

Anxiety

i hope when whitney's waaay on the other side of her problems, she comes clean about everything she went through - not just because we're a gossip hungry world that wants to know all the dirt, but just to, i dunno, kinda give her a chance to say "it was hell, i can speak clearly about it now, i'm not that person anymore, and if anyone else is going through it now, i'm proof that you can survive it." i think it's gonna take a full rehabilitation for her husband for her to ever get to this point, though - and who knows how likely that's gonna be.

i could always distingiush a whitney houston track right off the bat. she's always had a very unique voice. that makes it all the worse when you hear how she damaged it. i am rooting for a mega comeback for whitney, though. i don't own one of her records and i can't say i'm a big fan but i would love to see her make a grandscale, all out comeback! after all the jokes and talk (of which i certainy participated) it would be great for her to say, figuratively, "fuck all y'all!"

I missed it. Did she look good? Or was she still looking sickly and boney?

I also hope for a big comeback from her. I figure she has to try something new. I'd like to hear a really classy jazz album from her and not with over singing but just some real soul to it. I'd also like to hear a Euro dance album from her. I fear however that she will do another album with hip R&B producers like Kayne and a few AC favs like David Foster. A jazz album would be the best way to go, that way she could get her older fan base back along with attracting others.

She looked pretty good IMHO!

Whitney:

Patti:

The show was good, you shoud've not missed it. I like the fact that the winners were announced VIA monitor, Squashing the envelope thing saved more time for Live performances.

Everybody came with it last night. Whitney gave her best televised performance in YEARS last night, she looked Elegant & Beautiful as always(altho she seemed nervous at 1st). I saw a courageous woman who will not be kept down when she entered that stage,

And as for Patti,,LOL,,,Patti know she's telling the WORLD that 60 ain't nothing but a number. I Love it when she comes out like a Gang-buster. After 43yrs in the bizness, she is still the Screaming'Queen, she needs no introduction.

I love my Black sister-queens who command all attention when they enter the room because that's their beauty innately.

**

WHITNEY HOUSTON is heading back into the studio with the man who discovered her and turned her into a superstar to record a new album.

The soul diva has reteamed with mentor CLIVE DAVIS, who she paid tribute to at last night's (15SEP04) WORLD MUSIC AWARDS in Las Vegas, and she insists her voice is better than ever.

She says, "I am gonna make some noise. I just think about me and the best that I can be. I can't live up to everybody's expectations but my own."

The superstar, who is planning a comeback after confessing to having drug problems and attending a rehab program, insists working with Davis is exactly what the doctor ordered.

She adds, "It's like a new beginning. Like a plateau. He's (Davis) like my dad in a lot of ways. I call him my industry father. He's guided me through my career."

Davis adds, "We have an unbelievable chemistry."

I love Whitney and I thought she looked great and sounded pretty good too. Let's hope she's cleaned up her act and is drug free and makes a huge record that's as amazing as we all know she can do.

I thought she did a great job! Sounded awesome!!

Maroon 5 and Big Boi with Patti were other highlights for me too. Usher's MJ routine was a bit too much for me, love the album but can't watch him.

I thought she performed well. Her vocals sounded like they suffered somewhat from mistreatment, but she still managed to be her usual neck-rolling, melismatic Whitney-sounding self. Thumbs up stuff.

It's Big Boi. Kool Moe D... Yeah! That's the old school rapper he resembled last night! I was trying hard to pinpoint it.

Agreeing with everyone else that said Mrs. Brown looked and sounded better than she has in
quite some time. A few tiny rough spots but nothing disastrous.

The Clive Davis introduction was interesting.
He very deftly gave props to Aretha before introducing Whitney as "The World's Greatest Singer"
(or something along those lines). Clive obviously has history with her.
I wonder if that statement was heard by Patti Labelle whose voice seems to only get better as time goes on.
And she did look great. nod

Whitney was cool, but no one has anything to say about Toya? I heard her new song was good. They're playing the "new/mystery artist promotion game.

I'm pissed because I didn't catch the very beginning. I only heard the end of "Ghetto Muzik" when they were rolling the credits and went into "I Like The Way You Move." She's just has this aura about her that when you meet her, you immediately fall in love with her..like a "favorite auntie" or something. mushy

I think Whitney looked and sounded alot better than she has in a long time. She has definately gained her weight back, she looks like herself again. I mean compare how she looked last night to the MJ concert special and she looks great. But honestly I think shes losing the voice we all loved sooo much. I feel bad for her, because she had one of the most beautiful voices in the world. Last night she couldnt hit her high notes, but she still sounded ok. I think shes definately abused her talent with drugs, and drinking, thinking her voice would always be there. But last night I got the impression that her voice is fading.

She had a couple of small sections in Ghetto Muzik where she could actually sing and made the most of it.

I keep thinking to myself, "Shut the f**k up Big Boi and let Patti sang." mad

Whitney's voice is fading, but it might have to do with age as well as drugs. Opera singers don't stay at their heights forever. Whitney is just as loud, if not louder. There's no way she could keep that up forever. My mom always said she would lose her voice. It's possible that abuse hastened the inevitable.

Being that as it may she sounded great in her lower register. She's become more soulful with age. I'm just happy she wasn't embarrassing. It was almost like the old days. Her worst performance was the debacle knows as Divas Live with her and Bobby.

I was so damn thrilled when Ms. Whitney came on stage looking spectacular and gave one of her most soulful performances ever. She's done that 'I Believe In You & Me'/'I Will Always Love You' couple times before (namely at the 2000 Arista Anniversary Special) and this time she was poised and sounded great. She did have a couple of scratchy moments but no can't deny that this is the best shes looked/sounded in years!

Go Whitney!

The WMA's were actually quite entertaining...it's seemed more fast pace and the live performance were many. Much better than the VMA's!

With Whitney looking acting pretty normal last night...the 'Cracked Out Crazy Ho' Award would have to go to both Anna Nicole Smith (who kept doing the 'hang loose' sign with her hands everytime the camera cut to her) and Courtney Love (who I love...but she's a nutbag).

Marc Anthony was really good and and J-Lo looked really pretty.
Every minute of last night is on my face today....
