Now recently i've wittnessed that alot of people are very intolerant of sting as a personal Artist.
Mostly Obssessed Police Groupies that think he broke up the group for his own personal gain. Which is untrue,

Now I love the Police as much as the next guy
, they where a Fantastic Group, but lets face it
the most complete album they ever released Was Synchronicity... and quite possibly Ghost in the machine

In my own opinion Zenyatta Mondotta,Regotta De Blanc and Outlandos D'amour
HAd maybe one or 2 hits but was filled with Filler MAterial, Alot of Digirock...
Sting doing LEad vocals and majority of the songwriting Stewert and Andy, they where unstoppable
until Sting started to get "Weird" on them
talking about Fusion with Jazz, Pop and Country. Which in my opinion was a pretty much good Idea
People think that it was stings fault cause supposedly 2 years prior to the official Break up, he was already working on Solo Material
Untrue
Dream of the sea turtles was a Project Entailed for the Police
When Sting came to Andy and Stewert with the Designs , they thoroughly denied the songs
Rejecting Stings idea of Jazz Fusion
Officially the group Broke up, when Sting wanted to recreate the Song "Don't Stand So Close To Me"
because he saw that the original was unfit, and need ed to be redone with a more "Mature Sound"
because the song entailed "Mature events" deep to sting...
The guys did the song but vowed itw ill be the last one they record together

Dream Of The Sea turtles,Nothing Like the sun,The Soul Ages and Ten Summoners tale
Are Critically Acclaimed
because of his Jazz and Pop Fusions...

I've always wondered the Question, what if Andy Summers and Stewert Copeland, Agreed to Stings Fusion Ideas. Would The Police Still Be together today?
Andy Summers has some pretty good solo stuff but not as acclaimed as sting
and the Amusing Part is He's Doing Jazz Fusion now...

I don't know... Stewart did an opera and some movie scores and Animal Logic is very different from the Police. I think they broke up because of personal differences. I think Sting was once quoted saying "We went from sharing a hotel room (when they started out) to seperate limos (on the synchronicity tour.).

STING: The truth: Ego-mine and theirs. A conflict of roles, to some extent. I was the songwriter, and they wanted to play that role too. They didn't have the experience anymore than I could have played lead guitar. It's funny, we played "Message in a Bottle" at my wedding a few years back. Stewart rushed the beat as usual, and I snapped around and gave him this quick snarl, which he returned, and Andy grumbled. Suddenly, we all just started to laugh. It was us falling into our old unconscious roles, and we all saw it.

Police reformed in the summer of 1986 for several shows on Amnesty International's Conspiracy of Hope Tour. Following that they immediately went into the studio to work on a new album, no one had any new Police material written, so the album turned into a greatest hits. Sting wanted to re-record all the hits. His idea was that the three of them were better musicians now and that the songs should reflect that. Andy and Stewart however, felt that the originals were best left alone. In the end, they only re-recorded two: Don't Stand So Close To Me and De Do Do Do, De Da Da.

That is so awesome, I love the idea of re-recording tracks. He did that with All This Time and re-invented some of his classic songs. Tori Amos released a greatest hits cd with "re-conditioned" tracks. And we all know Prince has wanted to re-record his material too...

but I personally like 88 version of don't stand so close to me
its more melancholy and suits the lyrics

Stewart Copeland and Sting have too much of a love/hate relationship, mostly in the hate.

Doubt it'd ever work-although Andy always seemed to be more of the peacemaker.

I love The Police!I have bought every album,at least,4 times ,I have all the remastered cd's plus the Message in a Box.I have every Sting album including the live one and 2 boots.I still enjoy Sting except for his last record.I just couldn't get into it.I want more organic rock and "jazz' from him. I have no beef with any members.They ended becuaes they reached the top,their sound was being copped by other bands,and they started fighting.I remember reading an interview where Sting sorta intimated there was some homoerotic tension between he and Stewart plus theyt both tried to outdo each other.I used to beg for them to record just one more album,but it ended the way it should have.It would be cool to hear what they could come up with now ,as they are so diverse,but they can't get along .What can you do?They are each successful and their music still sounds fresh and exotic to me.I'm cool.

My only problem is trying to get a cd copy of Brimstone and Treacle and "what is beat?" by the engrish beat.Then,I might smoke some cheeba.

They played at Sting's wedding and it ended in anger as Sting and Stewart glared at each other.Sting always felt that Stewart got too carried away with his rhythms.And it was happening again. They also played at their RRHOF induction.

Oh yeah... I like both Sting and the Police. It just depends what mood I'm in. Sting wrote most of the songs in the Police, so you get the same kind of lyrics and melodies... it's just in a different context. Like apples and oranges I guess.
