btw, I just saw New Edition's "If it isn't love" video on Vh1 Classic Soul, and a similar thought came to mind.

I just saw this video on there recently as well and noticed that Ralph Tresvant was wearing stirrup pants. omfg One of the many dumb things I notice on a day to day basis.

but the best by far is a tie between

MJ - Smooth Criminal and
Madonna - Vogue

My feelings exactly! These two have always been my favorites. Great examples of choreography in music video. I remember having a mighty teenage fit when Vincent Paterson lost the VMA award for best choreography that year to Paula Abdul for Straight Up. I admit I do love that song and video as well, but there's no comparing the two.

Lia - True Obsession

Janet Jackson - Alright

MC Hammer - Pump It Up (people have dogged MC Hammer beyond belief but I don't care what anyone says, that man can dance and if I were an entertainer he would be the first person I call to choreograph my videos).

MC Hammer - It's All Good

MC Hammer - Turn This Mutha Out

MC Hammer - 2 Legit 2 Quit

MC Hammer - Pumps and a Bump - (not the original banned video but the 2nd video which was strictly dancing)

Janet Jackson - When I Think of You (I love the whole idea of the steady camera following her while she's dancing all around town - they don't miss a beat)

Janet Jackson - Pleasure Principle (who would ever think a man choreographed this video - contrary to popular belief, Paula Abdul did not choreograph all of Janet's video's during the Control era - Barry Lather is responsible for The Pleasure Principle - he even released his own album and I also remember watching him perform on Arsenio Hall and he was a dancing machine).

BARRY LATHER

Troop - My Heart

Usher - U Don't Have To Call

Bobby Brown - Getaway

Michael Jackson - (pretty much all of his dance videos)

Marques Houston - That Girl

Paula Abdul - Knocked Out (The original video where she dancing her butt off, not the watered down 2nd video where the music is a little different)

Paula Abdul - Cold Hearted

Paula Abdul - The Way That You Love Me (the first/original video - not the 2nd watered down one)

Ciara - Goodies

Aaliyah - Rock Da Boat

...many more

Good call, particually the hammer choices.....has anyone noticed that most of the video's that have been chosen r from the "NewJack" era of between 1988-1993!

Troop- my heart has some great moves and their dancing, like paula abdul has a sense of unpredictabilty about it.....by the way, how could u leave out Troop's "Spread my wings".....me and my mates always watched this video and try to copy the dance moves when i was a kid.....same with every Hammer vid too.....

The most recent one would have to be Janet Jackson: All Nite (don't stop), I've seen her perform this exactly the same at least a dozen times on TV (and DVD) but never get sick of it...Its got the same type of energy like Rhythm Nature or If...I forgot how great a dancer Janet could be and ended up watching all my Janet Videos and DVDs again. I love the dancing in Thats the way love goes, (the ending of) You want this and Runaway, they're just really smooth without being boring..

Pretty much anything by MJ especially Smooth Criminal, Ghosts and Remember the Time.

Aaliyah's Rock the boat and Are you that somebody?

boxed Oh yeah and Tick, Tick Bang

I jsut remembered, the dancing Tevin Campbell does in "round and round" is pretty cool.....the intro has some good moves.....check ur "grafiti bridge" movie!

On same film, "theives in the temple (extended weird as hell version) has prince trying very hard to be a mix of Hammer, Michael and new kids on the block!

Oh yeah, New kids on the block "step by step" has some good moves!

As 4 Milli Vanilli.....they could not dance could they?

UptownDeb

(This is bugging me because I can't remember the name of the song.) I think it's a song by Dr. Dre. Couples are dressed in formal attire and dancing to classical music. It's slick and sophisticated. A total 360 from the kind of dancing you'd expect in a rap video. Love this dance scene. thumbs up!
