Sales do not equate 2 talent, but when u hit number one in most Europen countries and US, somethin must be goin right. Lets c Ugly fatass lil kim do dat, or nelly LMAO.

What i judge a band on is not sales, but since some Prince fans judge by this (ie/Musicology became Princes best sellin album since 'Diamonds And Pearls' 1991). Now people started talkin bout him, and even the critics changed. So sales obviously dictate and motivate popularlity and attitude. So i do judge by sales, but with a combination of these most prominant factors:

DURABILITY PROLONGITIVITY - The real greats last over ten years. This is probably most important. SlipKnot have 4 albums in a few years, and always hittin the top spot. Not many artists can maintain this momentum.

DIVERSITY - Changing music sound or even genres over time. Something dat makes people stand up and still talk. Critics say SlipKnot are in a league of there own, even if there said 2 be classified NU-Metal LMAO . They have moulded their own genre, no one comes close 2 soundin like them, no one plays more intenser or superior or heavier. Also they implement new instuments. With musics syles of techno/rave/house and the invetiable death metal.

TALENT CRAFTMANSHIP - The band is the real geniues behind the music. The REAL legends like Prince (can play 30 instuments), can use this 2 their advantage, as they know exactly how and what 2 compose the music like (where guitar riffs go where, what style will it be sung, etc). They know exactly if the song will be a hit or what 2 expect of it. Real musicians put out various stratergies 2 market themselves, nothin related 2 sales. Anyone can sing a song and get a hit, ie/ Madonna, Pop Idol ****. What would they do if from scratch they had 2 write, compose, perform all their songs from the beggining and 2 the day they die?

REALISATION - Can they play as well as they sound, like some of these manufactered crap sound totally fake, and are exposed as the frauds they really are! (Madonna, Villi Vanilli) Well theres no studio 2 sharpen or distort the voice. Most good bands can play there instuments and sound fresh.

SlipKnot have met all these requirements.

PEOPLE SAID SLIPKNOT WOULDN't last 2 albums. NOW they are 4 strong. They made number 2 here in UK, Germany and Spain. I assume they made well in US as well. IWOA (3rd album) hit number one all over Europe and made them the best sellin metal band in years. So dont hate them for all they did for metal.
