Y Should Eye Do That When Eye Can Do This?

Who else loves this song?

I'm REALLY digging it lately, along with a lot of the stuff off the Slaughterhouse and Chocolate Invasion albums. I'm thinking he should have somehow combined the two and released it to the public as one album along with Musicology. That shit would sell if he picked a cool single like Supercute and dropped the filler tracks from both albums (ie, Underneath the Cream, Props and Pounds).

Anyway, the horns are TIGHT as a sphincter on this song! As tight as Billy Jack Bitch...in fact I bet it's the same horn section...wish The Slaughterhouse had credits.

It's also a great response to critics and fans who think he should be "playing like he used to".

Maybe, but never heard of it.

And P. should quit using Eye for I. That is dumb. I can understand using U, but spelling out another word as another is f'n dumb.

P. helps kids with spelling, woops!

I'm diggin' it! YSIDTWICDT is one of my faves on the slaughterhouse!!! Actually there r only 2 songs that I don't like in the chocolate & slaughterhouse: hypno paradise & the dance...but if U replace them for Van Gough & My Medallion...thenm it's all fine!

Sorry, but this song typifies prince at his worst. Its a musical doodle at best, like most of the Slaughterhouse album. If he'd released that as an album proper, it would without a doubt rank as his worst album ever.

I thought the song was pretty average at first, but I listened to it recently and I just love the horn parts - very cool music

Horn lines are real nice but the rest of the song is so-so. Better than "Silicon" and "SM Groove”. Better than "Silicon" and "SM Groove" but not as strong as "Props N Pounds" and "Northside." On the whole Prince has churned out yet another mediocre record.

“Supercute" is absolute filler. Please don't tell my you're serious? A garbage track all the way. And "underneath the cream" and "props n' pounds" are two of the best tracks on each of the records. Man, we have completely different tastes. I need some funk and soul in my music not some corny bullshit rock. I don't come from the TRC/TGE/Million Days school. I come from the Black Album. Prince is an aphrodisiac but you got know what songs to pick man. It’s about “underneath the cream” not “super cute” hear me?

I agree though, that between CInvasion and Slaughter there is one good record. Here's how it would look:

1. When eye lay my hands on you
2. underneath the cream
3. sexme?sexmenot
4. vavoom
5. the dance
6. u make my sun shine
7. y should eye do
8. northside
9. golden parachute
10. peace
11. props n pounds
12. hynoparadise

this song is too funky for its own good.
its totally off the hook and flies right over tepid tastes.

one of prince's true gems of the last decade.
that's not to say that he doesn't have dozens and dozens of them though.

this song is, imo, highly overlooked.

dig if u will, this song live ...

eek superfunkyscary!

Would love to hear this played at the next party in September. It's a ten megaton invitation to dance or die.

There's real arrogance on display here, and P sure as hell can back it up.

Prince's first real classic from the "noughties".

Both of what you said...I completely agree. People dissing Musicology and thinks P can't write a decent song anymore need to listen to these 2.

Personally, if he chose the best track from all 3 and made a double disk...I think it would VERY MUCH rival SOTT...if not be almost as good as it.

If it was
Disc one
When I lay my hands on u
Judas Smile
Supercute
Y should I do that when I could do this?
High
The Dance
Silicon
S&M Groove
Peace
U Make my Sun Shine
Disc 2
Musicology
ICP&C
Million Days
Daisy Chain
2045 Radical Man
What do U want me 2 do
The Marrying Kind
If eye was the man in u're life
Magnificent
Reflection

I think that line up would have been killer...but too long for the casual fan.

Honorable mentions/swap outs to
Sex me sex me not
Call My name
HypnoParadise (I like this song)
Golden Parachute
On the couch

And that is your opinoin. Telling others what's good and what's not isn't cool.

I love suercutre and it's very funky...IMO. I actually hate P&P. Any song quoting Kurt Loder should be banned. And LOTS of folks round here HATE Hypnoparadise (see most annoying song thread) and golden parachute....though I love those songs too.

It's all about perspective and opinion.

yeh, well i deserve it. came out kind of hard, not really sure why. it's all good. don't for a second think that i consider my opinion to be the be all and end all/objective truth. fact is, i learn lots from people that disagree. (plus kurt's loder's voice on p&p is trully awful but the song, IMO, is banging).
