I hear ya... I was embarrassed. I almost died when he started talking about how many instuments Prince could play and Rove asked him if he could play a lagerphone (for those who don't know it's basically a broomstick with bottle caps nailed to it, you shake it or bang it on the ground). Prince seemed to take it all in good fun though. Phew! And what does "I look forward to coming to Australia again" mean? He never did say he was coming back in a hurry did he? | |

My husband was still fuming about this interview over breakfast this morning. He said here was Prince's big chance to get aussies buying the CD, and he's blown it. He didn't talk about the new album like he could've, he was so passive, basically letting Rove ask him the usual lame questions without adding anything of his own. I don't know, maybe it was too early in the morning over there or something, but he should've taken the opportunity to sound excited about the album at least. Nobody watching that inteview would go out and buy Musicology unless they were diehards in the first place, and what is the point in agreeing to all these interviews if your aim isn't to sell records. Just my opinion. | |

Actually rove and prince made a good connection. Whats this crap about trying to sell records. Just coz ev'ry other gimp that goes on TV has to trumpet their new cd doesn't mean that p does. I laughed when p said 'that sounded even worse on the earpiece, in refernce to rove being a total goose and singing the batman theme twice.

That is a really good point and as much as I think Rove didn't do a great job, I agree that Prince could have put in a bit more effort! | |

It is in his best interest to get out there and get liked to get his music heard. If he hates interviews so much why else is he doing so many right now? Perhaps part of the contract with sony is some serious self promotion? He has tried the alternative and it made him disappear from the public eye, hence nobody knew he was still making his precious music!!!. Maybe it isn't for the money? Say all he wants is to get his albums out there to educate the kids about "real music" (which he tried to say in the interview but it didn't really make much sense). But he can't afford to give away all the CDs, so he will just have to sell them. | |
