PrintableI kinda think you like someones music and you like them to me it goes hand in hand. This is because most of the time you dont really know these people but they give you enjoyment through there art and this is the only way you can really judge.As for Prince seeming arrogant or whatever ,thats part of what makes him what he is,you couldnt be that succesful without a lot of self-belief. So it don't bother me as I dont think he's a prick he's made my life more enjoyable through his music. | |

yes, it bothers me and probably detracts from the music somewhat. I try not to watch his interviews, but I usually can't resist, even though a lot of things he says really bothers me. It is crazy how he suddenly thinks his dirtier songs are bad and there is something wrong with his fans who want to hear them. Oh well, he's a musical genius and many geniuses are marginally insane, so I guess that's OK. | |

Like others have said,we don't know Prince personally.We can just enjoy his music,buy his CDs,go to his concerts,etc without having to deal with the person that that he really is.Yes,we've all heard the horror stories about what type of person he can be,we all know about the massive ego,we all know how what the ex-bandmembers have said...lol...but I prefer to just enjoy the music and leave the other stuff for the tabloids. | |

Prince being a so-called "prick" speaks to his humanity. He's human for crissakes! No one is perfect...not even him. But, I will say this: he's now beginning to admit mistakes, his flaws and everything. I think it takes guts to do this. I still think he's an arrogant SOB at times, but who cares. For me, it's always been strictly about the music. In the latest Rolling Stone, he admits that his past behavior turned off many people, including fans, and he seems remorseful about that.
Yes, he's a prick but don't you think that adds to his uniqueness and brings an interesting quality to his music? The reason why his approach is so unconventional is precisely because he's not a "conventional" artist. | |

Allow me to add that I think it does hurt P's ability to get people to listen to his music IF he is a prick. For me, this is really sad because people disregard some of his best work because they say that they are turned off by his behavior. I think that his image and personality has hurt in some way because, once again, it causes people to be distracted from the music. He behaves in this meglomanical way, then complains that the music ought to speak for itself. Well, I must admit that at times, P's behavior even towards his fans is a distraction. There have been several times where his tactics have even distracted me from what I believe to be his greatest musicial achievements. But, by and large, I think that the music ought to be the most important thing. | |
