Art of musicology question

Hi,
After watching the art of musicology, i could'nt help feeling that i had heard the short Rhonda Smith/Mike Scott breakdown during musicology before. Was this section of the song indeed an interpolation of another song or just a mistake on my part?

Any info would be appreciated

yeah, i think it's a lift/homage to an old classic hit song, though for the life of me i can't place it and i'm sure i'll kick myself when someone enlightens me...so far all i can come up with is that it sounds like something credence clearwater revival woulda done, but that's a bit too whitebread to consider...

It's called "The Tighten Up" by Archie Bell & the Drells. Usually you can hear Prince say "Reverend Scott, let's tighten it up" when they get to that breakdown part.

I actually went to school with Archie Bell, Jr. -- not that anyone cares . . .

Prince and The NPG regularly played the horn riff and the rhythm parts of "The Tighten Up" back in 1993 during the Act I tur across the United States.

Correct me if I am wrong.
