How Has Being a Prince Fan Changed Your Life?

Has his Music Influenced you in Major / Significant Ways? Have you Tried to Fashion Yourself after him and his Lifestyle?

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

He has influenced me as a teenager a lot. His combination of sexuality and spirituality had a big impact on me, and his music even more. Go check out some of my music at the link in my signature, his influence (especially the old school Minneapolis funk) is not to be missed. So I guess he had quite an impact on me and my life, hehehe!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I often walk around with that hideous symbol guitar and the word "slave" on my face.

Next month I'll get some big, beefy, burly man to carry me around on his shoulders thru crowds.

Very well adjusted, I am.

He helped me embrace & celebrate my sexuality more, but that's about it.

Not only was Purple Rain one of the reasons I wanted 2 be a singer/songwriter (www.iamsaturn.com) but his music also opened me up to all kinds of other artists and types of music I would have never even given the time of day. Growing up in with nothing but gospel and r&b, now I listen 2 everything ... well, except country, still dont' like that one. But he's the only artist I know that fuses such a multitude of genres so effortlessly, and he's consistently done this.

Oh yeah, and as a kid I really dug the fact that he wore heels. Hmmm, that should have been mama's first clue her kiddy might not be walking that straight line.

For one,Growing up with all those needy Prince lyrics in my head didn't
exactly help me win the Ladies. Even now He still thinks what a woman
wants is a love slave. What women need is a emotionally sound guy
that takes care of business. That's not what Prince music is about,
It's about emotional inseurity sexual passion and spirituality.
The Spiritual part is what helped me through the woods.

Free
Stand all time
The Ladder
Gold
Everywhere
Love we make

those are the ones that come to mind
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

It also led me to ride in a Cab with a license plate reading "Fresh" and dice in the mirror. I don't think it would be a stretch to call this cab rare.

It made me a weirdo. But I came to like it, and now I am happy and accepting that I am not part of the mainstream in any of my tastes. I don't feel any need to fit a stereotype, and just do the things that suit me and my family, regardless of whether they are untraditional or odd. My kids will fit in (I won't dress them too weird!) but be proud of being individuals.
Prince attracted me to the man that became my husband (I noticed him because he was singing 1999 at the time), and he the most amazing man I know, and it has put me on the right path in life.

Here is what he has Done for me. He has Brought me much Closer to a Spiritual Divine. I have Always been so Aware but he has made me Actually Discover Even More. I Always believed as True certain things and Suffice to say it is Indeedly so. The Flow of the Music the Color and Sound and how it Effects also is a Spiritual Thing. It is Very Enlightening an Experience a Prince Concert. It Awakens ya Senses. It is Actually a Spiritual/ Sexual sort of thing. Well, but this has Always Been PRINCE...

* I bought some serious "man-heels" (yes that's right, shoes with heels made for a man). I wear them with boot-cut pants so no-one can see them. biggrin

* I am a better guitar player from studying Prince's guitar work...I don't rip him off but I've learnt how to play a lot more intricately, faster and use a lot of different scales I wouldn't have learnt otherwise.

* I am a better singer from studying the way he sings.

* I am a good deal happier when I listen to (most) of his music.

* I am a good deal poorer from spending so much money on his music.

* I am lucky to have witnessed him perform live once so far - a concert which changed my life....I've seen many other artists live, but Prince is definitely the BEST. I will be seeing him again in September!

biggrin
