Prince and the Fountain of Youth

I found this exerpt from a Canadian interview interesting, only because it IS about the power of belief, common sense, and living for the moment. It was done immediately after the Jacksonville show..

It also doesn't hurt that he looks like he hasn't aged in 25 years. There's not a line on his face, not an inch of middle-age sag - and yet no sign of a Botox face freeze or any other artificial elixir of youth. Prince argues, however, that indeed he has discovered the fountain of youth.

"There's no special moisturizer, there's no special diet except that I don't eat meat - I just don't believe in time," he says. "If you don't hold yourself up to these artificial measurements we as human beings have put in place for time, then you don't worry about aging. And if you're not worrying about time, and if you don't have that ticking clock inside of you stressing you out, then maybe you won't age."

Prince sits back on the sofa and ponders further, then offers up another nugget that should please those who are delighted he's making a grand-scale comeback.

"If I believe I'm going to live forever," he says with a grin, "then just maybe I will."

Umm...he does have wrinkles in the eye area. Prince has a good ass make up artist and his hairstylist does an excellent job at dyeing his hair. Don't get me wrong, he still looks good for his age and still fine as ever... biggrin

So if this is Prince's way of life, why do any of you care? It doesn't work for you then so be it, but he sure seems happy.

There are some things you just cannot control, Prince, no matter how much you wish you could or how strongly you 'believe'. Deal with it.

ps - Prince definitely has held up over the years lookswise but if everyone is honest he *does* have a few light lines and bags. And of course, some say..a bald spot. wink

Really?? I'm here for Prince' music, not for what he does in his personal life. Maybe because I have one of my own??

We've got access to music here at the org? wink

I'm with you though. Many of us don't take his personal life so seriously. If anything, it's just a nice little diversion to my own life. Not a substitute.

So why are you worried about those that care about P or dare I say make a comment or have an opinion about a quote, if you have your own life , .. confused . Shouldn't you be caring or worrying about that.

I just feel sorry for people who feel that every part of Prince's life is something they should be analyzing. Believe me, there was no worry involved.

That's cool...you are bound to see a lot of topics about Prince other than music, since the title of this forum is Prince: Music and More. This wasn't the first non-music Prince thread and it won't be the last. The beauty of it all is that each thread has a title, so reading a title before clicking on a thread would probably help your dilemma of 'feeling sorry' for fellow orgers.

In any forum it still doesn't take away the fact that some people really think they have full access into Prince's life. And reading the thread title wouldn't have helped all that much on this one.

As far as my statement is concerned, I wasn't analyzing anything, I was merely trying to correct Prince and Prince only.

He can believe what he wants, do what he wants, but he needs to keep himself in check about it. I know he doesn't care about me or my dollars, but I do have the right to protect myself, ala Matthew 24:10-12. If he has the right to preach in his interviews and his music, I have the right to post my disagreements on this site (unless mods tell me otheriwse).

If no one likes my disagreeing with him, don't read my posts. I addressed it to him anyway, not that he'll read it. Prince is singing a different tune nowadays, whether you accept it or not. The spiritually aware need a spirit of discernment. So I will cautiously listen and correct when I feel the need.

He's has the power to reach far more people than I ever will, so it would be nice if he'd think before he speaks.

I do apologize for going off topic.

Back in the NPGMC in 2002 Prince talked about Relaxation and all. I Think Prince is Eating Right,Taking alot of Rest and Care with his Body. This is Why he is Able to Perform so Well and Not Cancel. Maybe yes the older Prince was Less Health Conscious. Who Knows Really but him and few others..

It's a state of mind..not if you WILL live or die. Except for his onstage "role" he really has no highs or lows. That's why he is not only physically in "shape", but mentally he is living "in the moment"..Have you ever seen Prince "stressing out"? He controls you...by controlling himself and his mind. Take the vanity, opinions, and all the extranial emotions out of your thinking process. He has figured this out..We all need to "work" on it...It is truly a liberating realization.

Watch your thinking mind as you "react"..

none of us know that, we ain't friends or relatives of his. everyone has good and bad days, no matter what one believes or how well one takes care of themselves. i am a very jovial, optimistic and laid-back person by nature and i still have days when things go less than great.

don't tell me you believe that hogwash too, cuz that's just what it is. it may sound liberating, nice n'all that, but just like i said above--wishful thinking. don't matter if you wish time away or not. life is life--what it totally boils down to at the end of the day is how well you take care of yourself, not some jive-assed boolshit that some pampered pop star believes.

With 27,000 posts, being a moderator, etc. I guess you spend alot of time "defending your views". I find that wastes alot of time and energy, and very rarely do so now, or at least try not to.

I do agree. I cannot say whether he has "highs and lows", it's just an observation. He seems very much in control of himself as a human being. Brad Pitt is a devout Buddhist. Think about how in control of his emotions he must be to live his life.

I guess I will ask you this. Say Prince were to die tomorrow, Or someone told you you could not be a "moderator" anymore...or, this website closed down without notice. How would you react at THAT VERY MOMENT? He's not a member of your family, yet he would not be a "pampered rock star" to you at that point in time, correct? The only thing we have is THAT moment in time, and how we react to it. Everything else is the mind feeding off itself (judgements, thinking too much, etc)The past and the future are..non entities. Time IS a trick.

i've nothin to defend--i just have a lot to say and thoughts to share, and i have friends here who i talk to often.

c'est la vie. i have more important things to worry about and have had more serious things happen within my lifetime than the passing-away of a rock star or not being able to be a mere moderator of a fansite anymore. the org and bein a prince geeklette are just hobbies of mine, they're not my lifeblood. i listen to the things i listen to and i help with moderatin this site by choice, not by destiny or whatever's clever.

he sure as hell still would be.
