LRC - #64 all-time greatest guitar solo

Not too long ago, the editors of Guitar World magazine put together a reader's poll, to find out what their readers considered to be the best guitar solos of all time.

Little Red Corvette showed up at #64.

I've always personally loved, and even at times gotten goosebumps over, this aspect of Prince's musicianship. While I am not quite sure LRC is the solo I would choose as his premiere showstopper, this voting result shows that the guitarist community respects the man's ability.

this is pure marketing, the didnt want to choose purple rain because it woudl be too obvious, pricne has tons of solos better than LRC.

that is interesting, because dez is credited for the guitar solo for little red corvette.

Dez did do the solo. In his book "MY TIME WITH PRINCE", he says that he did a few different guitar solos, and he and Prince edited the different takes in2 one solo, and notice how they all just flow cohesively in2 the solo we are now familiar with. Just listening 2 it, U'd think it was one solo, one take. He says he likes the way it came out and feels that he wouldn't have thought 2 play it the way it shows up on the record, but was still very happy with it.

its 2 hard 2 name a greatest guitar solo by the man. I'm shocked at the respect he gets from the critics. Prince, must have pissed them off earlier in the years not giving them interviews. Prince is the badest mofo out in the business. peace and be wild

I'm partial to his solo in "Joy In Repetition". I guess the more obscure songs get lost in the hits.

I dunno about his greatest ever guitar solo, but here are some of the ones that give me goosebumps listening to:

Little red Courvette
lets go crazy
damn U
dolphin
I hate U
I like it there
dinner with delores

theres plenty of other great solos ,those are just a few that spring to mind as being my faves
as hitting the spot.

I'm totally with you on that. I actually wrote a letter to Guitar World asking them how in the hell could they pick a solo that Prince didn't even play? I feel it was a jab at Prince. A lot of critics come off like they're jealous of P's playing skills. They don't want to give that up to him. Prince has said that he never felt he has gotten the respect he feels he deserves as a guitarist, and I agree with him.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

Computer Blues my favorite of Prince's though I also like She's always in my hair on the Rave video ,The way he shakes his hips when he lifts up he guitar bring a smile to my face each time. Two of my favorites are David Gilmours Comfortably numb solos and Mark Knobflers Brothers in Arms.
