A Million days.. For who???

Hey.. I was just listening to the song "A million days' for about the Millonth time.. (lol)
any way.. I am wondering who do you think he wrote this song about?????
Or was it just a song he came up with?
Everyone is saying how he wrote "call my name" for his wife..
but did he write "A million days " for HER too one time when they were in a fight? Or is it a song for Mayte?????
I know ALOT of you do not like Mayte.. but I truely think her and Prince were in love at one time.
He wrote alot of wonderful songs about HER!!!!!
And when you would see them together they looked SO happy and SO in love. Plus she was VERY sweet. I got to talk to her several times and she had a nice warm personality and was very poliet and nice.
Always took time to say HI....
Any way..... do any of you have any thoughts about who this was written for?? Its a great song!!!!! biggrin

Was written for Larry Graham. At the height of his bible studies, Prince couldn't bear to be away from him for too long.
RIP sad

When I hear it, it sounds like he is singing to his fans. That's IMO.

That's an interesting take on it. Never thought about it that way.
For all we know, he could have wrote the song after Mani went to the store for some cereal. wink

Im sure its definitely about a person, as it sounds directed at someone and not a group.....maybe its biograhical or maybe its imagined.....the mystery and ambiguity is good i guess.

Goddamn that was funny.

Some people have suggested Wendy & Lisa. "I didn't have the heart to say I'm sorry / now I haven't got a heart at all". I dunno about that, but it'd sure make a better tribute to their lost friendship than "In This Bed I Scream".
You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

Wendy and Lisa, maybe.

My first guess way Mayte, when she went to Spain. In fact, I feel the Mayte vibe on several of these songs (or maybe they just sound like they were written circa 1996/7/Emancipation) -
A Million Days
The Marrying Kind (Mani or Mayte?? - hint: change the lyrics from he to she, him to her)
*IF I was the man in your life (esp. about hanging around the liquor store, the perfume he gave her, barracuda hanging round her neck, please dont' tell me that you all got down -- Tommy lee)

Oh, and I also think it's obvious that:
Call my name is about Mani
On the couch is about the movie love jones
I,C,P&C is about record executives

I like someone's analysis of WDYWMTDG is about his fans.. I agree based on this line "I don't ever want to be where you are" ? to the fickle fans?
