I know that "She Gave Her Angels" was intended for the project. From my understanding was Prince and Mayte's project. Anyways, heres my tracklist for it. Please note that this is for more of an ispirational/clean CD for kids as opposed to a Barney sing-a-long for kids.

Positivity
The Holy River
Into The Light
I Will
Don't Talk To Strangers
Arm's of Orion
Betcha By Golly Wow!
Make Your Mama Happy
Peace

I can personally vouch that 'Mountains' is great to jump up and down on your bed too. It also starts with the line: "Once upon a time, in a land called Fantasy". Maybe talk of Africa being divided and airplane hijacks is a bit heavy... You can explain stuff like that away if they ask.

'Love Thy Will Be Done' by Martika is a pretty song too.

'Train' would be good with its choo-choo noises. The Mavis version will do. That isn't racy is it???

You could even put 'Graffiti Bridge' on there. Kids are weird - they might like it.

Start off with the energetic songs first and put the slower songs at the end of the compilation.

My kid is nearly 4. He is the music dictator in our household. He wants Raspberry Beret on repeat and doesn't want any other songs. Both my kids love this song because it's so catchy and mentions raspberries, horses, bikes, farms, thunder and lightning - never mind the rest of what it's about!
I started them off with a James Brown box set but they prefer Prince now. We even tried Elvis there for a while. They also love the Hooley Dooleys (like the Wiggles) but not as much as they love Prince.

I remember a while back during the "love4oneanother" days, he mentioned doing a children's album. Now having a child of my own, I'm going to get him a little CD player for his room. With it, I want him to have his very own first Prince album. He's not even 2 yet, but he's already got a BIG LOVE for music!

Please help me come up with a track list. I'll put together the artwork and everyone with children can have it for download, if you want. Maybe we'll call it the "Paisley Parent" CD. Maybe not.

So far I've gathered these:

Musicology
The Rest Of My Life
Make Yo Mamma Happy
Walk Don't Walk
Color
Round And Round
Starfish And Coffee
Don't Talk 2 Strangers

Let's raise our kids up right, ok?

I hear you... hug I am in the process of building my Music Library back up after I crashed my computer almost a year ago... or less.

The first CD I will burn will be for my niece (in profile), she is a huge Prince admirer... it's obvious when she hears his music. I just can't get over how serious she seems about his music/sound. She already goes into her bedroom and turns her CD player on... choosing selectively the music she likes most. When she comes to the song she desires... she steps away from the CD player and dances in front of her closet mirrored doors. She is so seriously into it and she is only 16 months! heart

Inspiring Lyrics are important... just as the beat/emotion that is stirred. mushy If you don't mind... I will take a few of your suggestions for "Shaley's Prince Mix". love2

I like that one too.

BUT... There's that line... "If God wanted milk in me, the breast I suck..."

As for the dolphin sounds, I played the extended version of Paisley Park. That one has those sounds at the beginning and the end.

Although a personal favorite of a lot of us, I don't think it would fly with the kiddies.

Not going to.
Not to mention it maybe just a little too slow for the youngsters.

I don't have the Mavis version of Train though. And Love Thy Will Be Done, I only have on cassette.

that´s a great idea, but how can you possibly compile a first Prince-album for your child with not one song from "Purple Rain" and "1999"? Add "Take Me With You" and "Delirious"
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

I know I was bouncing all over the place when My older brother would play me that song. Delirious, that is.

How's this?

Musicology
Paisley Park (extended version with the dolphin sounds)
Mountains (extended version with the "Get out on that dance floor")
Walk Don't Walk
Round and Round
The Rest Of My Life
Oilcan (off the goldnigga album, great prelude into the next song)
Make Yo Mamma Happy
Color (from the 1-800-NEWFUNK album)
The Same December (I like the message)
I Wish U Heaven
Starfish And Coffee
Don't Let'em Change You (From GCS-2000, I like the cartoon sounding voice)
Delierious
Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do
Take Me With U
Don't Talk To Strangers
Graffiti Bridge

Pretty good time. We could still add or replace a couple of tunes.
