new remasters

what's with this dragging that the old albums sound horrible ?????

Okay .... the volume is very low, and they have no high-end quality,
but if you turn up the volume a little bit, they have a respectable quality.

I'm the very proud owner of a fantastic stereo ... and I enjoy listening to the old Prince albums ... the quality has never ennoyd me.
The albums sound honest, and the different instruments can be placed perfectly.

I'm afraid that the concept of the albums will be destoyed if the remasters will actually be released with some bonus-tracks.

Just bought the Red Hot Chili Peppers remasters .... and those loussy bonus-tracks irritate me!

So ... Prince .... please, do not touch the tracklist of the albums!!

And I would love it if the remasters woud be released in a copy of the original artwork (a mini Vinyl cover), like they did with the japanese releases of Led Zeppelin.

hopefully, when they remaster/re-release his albums, they'll go the route that the Bowie 30th anniversary releases are taking.

album intact on one disc, and bonus tracks on a second. it may cost more, but it's something that'll please people that are actually going to go out and buy things like a remastered For You or Controversy or Parade or Lovesexy. besides, the people that are going to buy stuff apart from the usual Dirty Mind/199/Purple Rain/SOTT crowd are going to buy it no matter how it's released, so they may as well do them right.

The Dark Side of the Moon remaster that was released recently to mark the anniversary was a SACD disc, but also played on normal CD players. So how about the original track listing but in high resolution like SACD or DVD-A? Wouldn't that be great?

Of course, it would really help if I had a SACD player sad

Good idea - we've spent so much time the past year or so harping on about 'remasters' when we should be calling 4 a remastered Super-Audio/Dvd Audio 5:1 hybrid CD!!! drooling

Yeah, this is a joke! The quality of the man's CD output for most of his career is terrible. TERRIBLE! Anyone can hear that...TERRIBLE! He needs to remaster his albums...SACD would be a dream...my player needs some new tasty SACD material...

... I'm pretty sure ... if Prince will do the remastering himself ... he will fuck it up!!
It will not be the same anymore. Probably some bells or something will be overexposed .... maybe ....
he will really change the mixing, and believe me, it won't get any better.

I truly hope he won't do it himself, I have no confidence in his attempt to preserve the original mixing.

And those albums are a part of my life. The CD's come close to the vinyls ... I'm not sure I'll be happy with a new sound .... I'm afraid Prince will make it sound clean ... erase all the rough edges.

I have no problem with the fact that 80's albums sound .... uh ... eighties!

So ... Prince ... at least, leave the remasting to the guys who are good at this!
Don't try to better the original mix ..... and leave the artwork intact
