musicology stalling - requests needed

if you think Musicology should be a hit, it's time to call the radio stations and request it. After being one of the hottest new tracks, it's stalled on the daily airplay charts the past few days - with a fairly steady number of spins.

Here are some links to find the stations playing it.

Call and help get the spin count moving up again.

I already requested the song where I'm at. I didn't stay long to hear it cause I had to run some errands but I'm totally with you. We have to request this song be played whereever you are so that the song can be heard by others and ultimately rise up the charts.

Peace out!

Um, even if you don't like the song, I find it hard to believe that you don't think it's better than 99% of the shit that Top 40 radio plays.

IMO, Prince should do another high profile talk show or something...I know he's got a really busy schedule, but shit. wink

Do radio stations actually pay attention to requests?

just bumping the thread up so people see it and call in. The song had a lot of momentum just days ago - should be easy to get that back.

Alan you seem to be a big chart guy like me ( i have those billboard books from Joel Whitburn)

anyways i am suprised to see the song getting no support at all at top 40 stations....MTV and VH1 are playing the hell out of the video along side all the other songs that the top 40 stations are playing and YET they refuse to play Musicology...also there is only 2 spins on top 40 stations this week..you mean to tell every single top 40 radio programmer has decided not to play Musicology? or is it that its not being pushed by sony in the top 40 market..im interested in your opinion

someone said sony only promoted it to R&B stations. Not sure why, I thought it'd do well on top 40 radio too.

>>or is it that its not being pushed by sony in the top 40 market..<<

This is exactly the case. Musicology has not offically gone for adds in the Top 40 radio market. Whether Sony plans to do this in the up coming weeks is the question. This is a common occurance. Alicia Keys latest "If I aint got You" went for adds in the R&B market first, the song hit the Top 10 on the R&B charts and as recently as just a couple weeks ago it was promoted to Top 40 radio.

The fact that it is heavy rotation on MTV and VH1 would lead me to beleive that this will happen very soon . Look at MTV and VH1 as the 2 biggest pop "stations" in the country with far more exposure than any single radio stations.

It is a concern that the R&B spin increaases are slowing down , but when you look at the radio charts on a daily basis, you have to remember day to day fluctuations occur with any song. Outkast's "Roses" nearly all but stalled out in the 30's fro a couple weeks but now is picking up again.

Yea - just trying to make sure the momentum keeps going. Should be able to stay on top of this chart for another week or two.

http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...?chart=U2R

And there's still room for more spins at all of the stations playing it. If each of the 41 Urban/AC stations just plays it one extra time today vs a week ago, that bumps the song up from #15 to #13. Do the same thing tomorrow and it's #9. Do the same thing for a week, and it's #7. Do the same thing again next week and it's #3.

great work and research, man . You need to be on P's payroll smile

When it comes down to it only Sony and P know the game plan. I'm guessing if the song cant get out of the 50's on R&B radio , they will probably wont waste their time and efforts on Top 40 radio and release a different more poppy tune relitively quick. (A Million Days , Cinnamon Girl)

One thing they have to do is release "Call My Name" to R&B I have a feeling that song would tear up the R&B chart
