my take on p fans, haters, fams, success and everything in between (pretty much an essay)

PRINCE MIND FUCKS PEOPLE

Okay, calm down it's really not that bad. Everything that people say about him relate to one simple fact. Prince mind fucks people young, old, black, white, puerto rican and everybody who's just-a-freakin. What do I mean by "mind fuck"? The same thing director Kevin Smith probably meant when he coined the phrase. And surprisingly it's not bad at all. I describe what I mean through his older song's lyrics. "Sister" ~ "tell me where it's 'suposed' ta go. a blow job doesn't mean blow." or "Private Joy" "starngled Valentino , didn't mind ever since. if any body asks u, u belong with prince." Now, the average music listener hearing this for the first time is like WTF? But p doesn't really wanna f his sister or kill people to get laid? Hell no peoples, he just fuckin with y'all. He loves his fans and their money second. When you (a dude) hear Alaphbet St. on the radio in '88 and you say damn, I've been sleeping on prince I should go cop this. Then you get to the store and see the cover of a naked dude and a big leaf and think "ok do I really want my parents or older brother to see me with this? That's exactly the reaction p wants. He wants you to really think about it. Think about whether you even care or decide not to buy it. As a result of doing this his whole career he built an empire of a fan base. Because everyone along for the ride answered all the questions he subliminally asked along the way correctly. (quick sidebar - to paraphrase Charlie Murphy who spent time with Prince in the 80s said this about him on Chappelle's Show "he stared at me for jokin on him 'bout his clothes and I was like, hey man what are you starring at? i see your shirt and i know you didn't buy it at the men's department.) I could go on but you get the idea.

In conclusion prince never stopped doing this for any extended period of time. He could be totally normal if he wanted. I'm sure he was in high school and on his first two WB albums which are the only one's that stick to a genre. Personnaly I hope he keeps this up coz I dig it, but a lot of people don't. Funny story that sums it all up for me. My friend called p the Artist Formally Known As Douchebag, but had the Batman Cd in his collection. So next time we're driving to school I pop it in and he starts singing it. Partyman is what we listened to. But the funny thing is he didn't know it was Prince. And I didn't bother to tell coz I'm sure he'd feel wierd 'bout it or throw it away. Years later and the other day I told him I went to his concert and was like "cool." That's all he said. So I'm guessin' p's got a few other million closet followers too. All he has to do to win them all back is to go back to the Controvery-1999 dry humpin the mike stand era.
