PRINCE 2 APPEAR ON PARKINSON IN THE UK...(with thanx 2 'ELLEcTR!KA')

...or so the rumour goes, Im sure there will be more on this soon, but here is what is known so far:

I have some really good news.

My friend works for the BBC in the UK and has just told me that there are plans for a PRINCE special for the UK show Parkinson hosted by Michael Parkinson. This is one of the best known chat-shows on UK TV and Michael Parkinson has interviewed just about every famous person alive, except for Prince!!

Well, there is nothing solid yet but my friend tells me it's planned to be aired in next couple of months with Prince performing some tracks from Musicology plus some old hits (for the last time on TV ever) and he will also be interviewed by Michael too.

My friend knows I'm a huge fan of Kylie and for both times she has been on there he has told me a long time in advance and then got me tickets to be in the audience on both occassions. Hopefully if the Prince show happens I'll be able to go along too!!!!!

I will let u know if I hear anymore news from him, but by the sounds of it it seems like it's something that's going to definately happen.

Ugh. The Parkinson show is appalling. Parkie is both smug and smarmy at the same time and his interviews are banal. However (and Lord knows why this is the case) his show is deemed to be the premier chat show - he gets the big guests. I think it is because he does not challenge guests and is happy to accept whatever restrictions they want to have placed on topics etc. And I can't imagine Prince sitting next to (and trying to relate to) a C-list actor from East Enders.

Don't do it!

If Prince could put up with the humour and mild sarcasm I'd prefer to see him on Jonathan Ross....

maybe this is to help promote a UK tour.

I say get Dimbleby or Paxman 2 interview Prince. They could start about his comments on Ronnie talk 2 Russia, then about his criticism of the first Gulf War and then just completely bombard him with questions about Jehovah witness' and their involvement in Al Quaeda

I'm no fan of Parkinson really, but everyone else would either be too much (Norton, Ross), too slimy (Skinner, Richard and Judy) or totally useless. So it has to be Parkinson

In an ideal world I'd like to see Prince on a Jules Holland show..he could chat and then PLAY. However I'll take Parkinson....any chance to see Prince on a UK tv show is to be applauded.

There is something worse than Parkinson and thats 'Des and Mel'. They have a lot of music acts on, but the show stinks big time. The Jonathon Ross thing might have been good but.....he was a big prince fan....but now thinks nearly everything since 'sign of the times' stinks. He would probably tell Prince so.

Its got to tie into the UK portion of the tour, whats the point of promoting the tour months too early. This is very good news. IF its true.

Sweet! can not wait 2 watch Parkinson when it is shown on the television. will have 2 keep checking the television, so do not miss it.

I honestly think he should get down to Johnny Vaughan's shed for his show.

If he can get Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller, he should get Prince. I so, so want Johnny to ask Prince what his favourite handtool is.

Parky's pretty shit now. Just asks safe boring questions. I think that's the only way he can get the big stars on nowadays.

Back in the day he was great though! If u don't believe me watch the interviews he did with Ali!!! Brilliant stuff!!!

Parky is such a tedious ass-kisser. Yeah I know everyone loves him coz he's congenial, northern, and reminds them of their granddad or something (only reeking slightly less of piss and booze perhaps)... but his interview technique is so tired. I suppose at least the interview would be fairly safe, I can't see Parky asking anything too awkward.

The only thing worse than Parky would be Jonathan W(R)oss, who used to be fairly funny and witty before joining the Order of the Brown Nose with his chat show. Examples:

Rossy interviewing Madz:

(Jonathan to Madonna): Oh wow, you're like a normal person?! That's amazing! You eat food and breathe air just me! And you go to the pub? That's amazing?
(Madonna): Yes, I am amazing. Can I talk about my new album now? (in fake English accent)

Rossy interviewing Lenny Kravitz:

(Jonathan to Lenny): Wow, you're like really famous, it's so amazing to meet you. You have such a cool jumper on, really cool.
(Lenny): What?
(Jonathan to Lenny): Haha seriously, you're amazing. What's the new album called again? Hey, I'm such good mates with you now. Do you like Hob Knob biscuits with your tea?
(Lenny): What?

Note to all Prince fans in the UK

If Prince does Parky, please do not sit in the front row of the audience with your NPG hockey jerseys, ear moonwraps and shouting "wooo!" in that way Americans do. Remember, you're representing all of us, and some of us have to go to work next day only to be derided for the freaks that we will automatically now be associated with forever.

Try being cool, for all our sakes, please.
