cool, so what rumours though? god i hope the new cd is still a full cd of songs, it would be really annoying for people to go expecting a proper album and shit. plus the mods did say it would be "the album", so how will the store version be different? ooh this could be really annoying. nice the album is coming outso soon though after all that release in june shit.

if the damn thing is coming out in april, it would be nice to have a single on the radio at some point before then.

That's Strange -- I thought Prince had a deal with Universal Music?

let the speculation begin...
I hope he doesn't give us a 4-track CD single at the concerts.
They've hyped this thing saying the "Musicology CD" will be given away free at concerts.
But, if Sony is indeed going to sell it in stores, it really has to be substantially
different for fans to buy it in stores. A couple bonus songs may not make
enough of a difference.
Odd that we still don't have any confirmation on a track listing.
If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

First off, at the club, PP9 very specifically said that the CDs given out at concerts will indeed be the whole Musicology album - not a single, not a sampler, but the whole dang thing.

NOW. Who's to say that the version in wrecka stows won't have a bonus DVD or extra tracks, or a bonus disc of whoknowswhat? That would be a smart move - something to draw in the casual fans (if they don't jack up the price for bonus content, that is), and an initiative to get us Prince geeks with umpteen free copies of the album to go out and buy yet another copy.

Also, I think it would be smart to throw some exclusive tracks in the Musicology downloads section at NPGMC for those of us who will be getting free CDs at the concerts - it'll give us a reason to drop by that section of the site and toss a little extra change their way.

But eh, who listens to me...rolleyes

You know, I hope someone does. That’s really sound. Also gives way to maybe a 2 volume set...or at least more freedom to appease everyone by putting different music on each. One we get, the other we buy. A smart way to do this is have it be half new and half old reworked versions like we have been hearing…or something like that. Split them both up so each disk has new and old stuff. (even play some music in concert not on the disk) That way you don’t have another 3 disc set that everyone has to plunk 40 bucks down for…and it will attract old fans and the casual listener…who, if anything, has seen or heard him at least once in the past month or so by now. Yes, the 3-disk strategy of new material worked for the fans but not the casual listener. I agree it will have to be substantially different for it to be even semi successful.

And thank you thank you thank you for clearing up what it is we will be getting. Not that it’s gospel or any thing, but it gives some hope. Stating that a Free CD of Musicology would be given is pretty vague..as until now I was convinced that it was a play on words and we would be getting the single of Musicology (which would be really silly spending all that money on a single…as I think it costs the same to produce them as it does for a regular cd, but I could be wrong.

Okay, now I'm getting excitied - I just hope it's an all new CD - no more Jazz, no more piano solo stuff. Just some funky funky music and we all have missed.

Any idea which wreka stores will be selling it? I tried looking on the internet and can't find any info on the new CD.

Just looking for more info

Will the songs on NPGMC be available only for NPGMC members, or will non-members be able to download them?

Has there even been a membership renewal/sign-up for 2004?
