Purple rush 5 - the ultimate temptation 4CD

Four questions:

First Avenue august 3 1983: Better quality than “the Avenue” ??

First Avenue birthday-gig 1984: my complete concert has very bad sound-quality … how about this version ??

First Avenue oktober 25 1984: how's the quality of this concert ??

Syracuse 1985: is the sound-quality really breathtaking ?? (better than “Flesh For Fantasy”)

Yes, it is.

Purple Rush is a new Sabotage Records release ..... with the concerts mentioned above.
I suppose they did an excellent job (as usually), but I would love to read some critics from someone who owns this set already ..... it's pricely!

Vol 5 is as breathtaking as every other Vol. Glad i got `em all.
The sound is indeed improved on the already heavy bootlegged gigs, the birthday gig 84 sounds good, i never heard it before. The sound changes for the last third of the gig. But still very enjoyable.
Remember "noon rendevous" or "Desire" from Vol1? Well, "Roadhouse Garden" is the same for Vol5. You have to have this set, believe me.
Greetings.

For those of you who don't get excited about the new official releases ...
this set is something to get excited about!

First Avenue 1983 & Syracuse 1985 are not drastically improved .... but these are great concerts in fantastic quality.

First Avenue birthday-gig 1984: great improvement!!! You ought to buy the set for this brilliant concert in excellent quality.

First Avenue oktober 25 1984 (most fans think it's in Detroit) .... this one is new for me, and it's Okay.

I just got this worth it alone for these two gigs. The 7th street entry gig I never heard before & it's better than just OK.

You see? You should have told me you were missing the 7th entry gig. I have it since 1990. It is one of my favourite gigs. Well, at least now you have it.
Have fun, and enjoy...

Wha-wha-what?
Who said the Syracuse show was "not drastically improved"???!!! eek
It's better than Moonraker's 'Prince & The Revolution Live' OR 'Flesh 4 Fantasty'. This is THE only version to have of Syracuse 85!! It's amazingly clear, although coming from a broadcast it ought to be.
The June 7th 84 First Avenue show is amazing considering the bad quality 'Birthday Partying' that has been going around.

A good job indeedy!!

While all of the material here has been available for quite some time, it all sounds better here than anywhere else. The birthday show from 1984 is also complete, unlike the previous bootlegs of it (Happy b.day! and Birthday partying). Both that and the show from 3/8/83 are stone cold classics, containing a great deal of material being debuted for the first (and in some cases only) time. If that wasn't enough, the Syracuse show is here in stunning sound quality. The previous version, Flesh for fantasy, was copied from the video and the sound wasn't as fantastic as it ought to have been. It's a fine show anyway, so great to have it in impeccable quality. The brief Minneapolis 25/10/84 show is also available on The jam, again in inferior quality to here. It's interesting if only because he flirts with the blues, something he didn't really do again until the mid-1990s. All in all this is a worthwhile bootleg no matter whether you are new to this material or just looking to upgrade older copies of it.

Recommendation rating (out of 10): 10

Now I have had the chance to give this boot a proper listen ...

Indeed .... brilliant.
four great concerts ... one of them in breath-taking quality, and three in good quality, far superior to earlier releases ..

so, ya'll know what to do!
