Dumb question? Is there a PAL/NTSC conversion issue even for DVDs ?

Yup, even for DVDs. You can buy a region-free DVD player that will play both formats, but those players are more expensive.

No, PAL/NTSC won't affect your DVD player at all. It's a question of whether your TV set can take both. Most modern televisions (at least over here in the UK) can understand both PAL and NTSC because of the popularity of multi-region DVD players. In fact, I have a TV that my parents gave me and they bought it about 10 years ago and it can handle NTSC. If in doubt, check the booklet that came with the TV (don't tell me you threw that away!).

As for the licensing issue, here in the UK SOTT was released by a now defunct company called Palace not WB. They also released the "Lovesexy" live videos in the UK. I think it was probably licensed on a country by country basis, so while this may not be offical NPGMC or WB product, it will be perfectly above board and legit.

Okay, for the umpteenth time, WB NEVER owned the rights to the SOTT film. It was released and distributed through MCA/Universal, who still own the distribution rights. Now, that doesn't mean that they haven't licensed another, smaller company to release it in Holland (and in fact, it may be their way of seeing if it will sell in a small market).

If this is official, then it is the first release of SOTT on DVD legally (the Brazillian DVD is a bootleg, and 100% illegal)

REGION FREE IS CHEAP!!

WHo said that REgion-free players are more expensive? They are actually cheap. Mine was $150. I recommend everyone get one.

Check out DVDtalk.com and go to DVDtalk forum for the International DVD BB. There are many recomendations for players and how to get them online, if you dont live near a store that will sell them. HKFlix.com has them. I recomend a Malata 558. A whole new world of cinema and DVD will open to you!

And u will be able to play the new Sign o the Times DVD in DTS 5.1 surround!!!

Really? That´s a bit of a surprise for me.

Was for me too when I heard about it since Holland is/was one of the biggest bootleg countries in the world...
But it's just the law i.e. it's impossible here to advertise illegal material...
IF Video/Film Express was some bootleg company it would be impossible for them to close a deal with "The Free Record Shop" to sell this disc cos Buma/Stemra and even BERTUS would be on their case...

Man, if anyone from Holland doesn't have a region-free DVD player by now then head over to "Blokker", they sell 'em for € 50,-...
