Why compare him to those two.....The Stones still playin their hits, so does Bowie, Mcartney, Sting, James Brown.....well the list goes on and on....be glad P. likes to surprise with playin familiair songs in a different way. And its those songs that got u all excited in the first place...i dont get it. He's the best performer, musician around....Dont think there;s anything he could do that would make u guys happy.....

At least they do not package the tours as the latest rehash of the his Hits. Bowie may proform some of his old songs but he doesn't retire them to the sideline & then Rehash a Tour featuring all the old stuff, creating money out of old rope. He just plays his music. There is a massive difference.

As for going to this new tour, well, I think not. If I need to hear these songs again with their original Lyrics, I'll use the Stereo. Which version do I wanna hear jedi

hmmm Bowie didnt do that? Check ur Bowie tourhistory again....lol
Well for one...i never saw P. rehash his old songs to the sideline...at ONA he also played hits. Second...he almost never plays a song the same way...maybe lyrics are same but im in it for the music...i dont care bout lyrics..And the way he played at Vegas, LA and SF i think we're all in for a treat...ive been seein him since Dirty Mind yes and eventhough there were some bad shows, i never left dissapointed

The only reason that I'm not "overly excited" about this tour is the "sticker shock" I had when I found out how much the tickets were!!! eek

I don't care if I get a free Musicology CD or not....$50 is TOO MUCH!!! I'd rationalize $35-$40 a little better!

Oh well...

you're not alone. i wasn't even trying to go see him when he came to lincoln center in nyc.

i don't even watch when he comes on leno anymore. it's sad to say really.

i didn't even watch the grammy's to see his performance. i still haven't seen it.

i think it was too many let downs. the last thing i caught was "the work" on letterman (?).

that was so awful i pretty much gave up after that.

no, i did buy that sucky ass las vegas show.

i still have faith though that he can bring it like he used to.

i really think i just can't stand that damn NPG and everything it stands for.

First, missing Lincoln Center was truly your loss. The man rocked the house, and about 2,000 had a three hour party. Several times throughout the show, many fans formed "trains" and danced up and down the aisles, while everyone around shook their booties...an indication of the great time had by most, if not all. There was so much love and good feeling in the room...enough said.
Second, you can hardly judge the man's live chops by the Letterman or Leno show...that is a pale imitation of the vibe and energy felt at live shows where the fans are going wild, not a studio audience sitting on their hands for one ridgidly rehearsed number (i.e. blocking for camera angles, lighting, etc.)
And third, the grammy performance, despit my apprehensions, was fun, and P kicked it on guitar.
When Musicology comes to town, get a ticket and come to have fun..you just might have a great time.

i hear ya!!!

i thought the Hit & Run tour would be last time to hear the 'hits'. Dude is still trying to sell tickets. Save your money on tour tickets, movie tickets and just get out some Prince cds from the 80's and early 90's and e-n-j-o-y the finer things!

You're right, I should have said Elvis...

The Stones still playin their hits, so does Bowie, Mcartney, Sting, James Brown.....well the list goes on and on....

It's cool to hear The Stones play their hits because it's the same band (save for Wyman) and they don't fuck with their lyrics or "jazzify" their output or make some easy-listening versions of them...
Same for Bowie except for the band...
I don't listen to Mccartney cos frankly his music bores me hits or not, so I don't know anything about him nor do I care...
And don't get me started about Sting, he retreated to being some lame lounge act and his shows suck too...
And well James Brown, I wasn't born when he did some of those amazing shows back in the 1960's and 1970's, but the times that I have seen him he just seemed like a shadow of his former self and it just doesn't work and it's rather lame to watch...

be glad P. likes to surprise with playin familiair songs in a different way.

Why?? He has more than enough familiar material he never plays... But like I said he's treading the Vegas waters...

And its those songs that got u all excited in the first place...i dont get it.

And that was a long time ago, in the mean while he recorded more than enough new material to tour with...
The last time he did shows with (almost) no hits and just new material was in 1995 and those are some of his best shows ever...

He's the best performer, musician around....Dont think there;s anything he could do that would make u guys happy.....

He could easily make me happy by showing he's the best performer and musician around instead of constantly taking the safe, lame and boring road i.e. playing hits...
It would be nice to see him record an album and just tour with it...
He could easily fill a 2+ hour show with just material from the last 5 years...

I'm excited about this tour because it's the first time my girlfriend will be seeing him. I also love live music and there aren't many acts that are better live than Prince?

Question - What does everyone mean when they say Prince is becoming "Vegas Style"? I've seen a lot of shows in Vegas and I would never compare them to a Prince show. Just wondering what people are meaning by it.

Thanks!

Well it just shows we both have different tastes and expectation on a P. show. I agree with u i like to go to a show with all new songs (like Gold tour) but i usually take someone who hasnt seen Prince b4 and i like them to show what i already saw lots of times. So thats why i dont mind the Hits shows. Well in short....im not too much of a critic. I just go and enjoy myself and life goes on. If there was any chance i would get annoyed or irritated during a show i wouldnt pay 70 to 100 euro.
