'Splash' is a little mystery to me. Was this song always known to exist before the NPGMC made it available as a download? just curious, cause i'd never seen it on any bootlegs or heard of it before then. Was it ever intended to appear on any aborted albums?
Makes me wonder what other unheard of Revolution material is lurking in the vault.

this song is wonderful, P W & L at their best! - with All My Dreams - wasn't it supposed be on Roadhouse Garden?

It was known to exist before NPGMC posted it, but it was one
of the many songs that was not circulating. I'm sure I'd seen it's name mentioned in one of the Uptown publications before it became available as a download.

i swear the jazzy outro was done in prince's symbol years. he just updated the track a little before releasing it through npgmc. he turned 'splash' into a four minute song in stead of just two and half minutes. the outro doesn't fit the song imo. and wendy and lisa's "splash" vocal gets sampled near the end. prince didn't do sampling like that in the mid 80's. don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine

I agree. There's some kind of scratching in there, too, which was rampant in the 1998-1999 sessions when Roadhouse Garden was being 'completed'. He never used record scratching during Revolution days (although the opening of America may be considered somewhat similar).

The end coda does sound like a more recent addition to the song. Just to put 'Splash' into context, here's a list of tracks also recorded during the same sessions in July-August 1985... "Go" is one of my absolute favorites! It's my little mystery. I never hear anything about this track and I've only heard two versions (rehearsal & studio). Are there any other versions out there?

Splash is such a sugary sweet track I can feel my teeth rotting when I hear it.
This is one of those songs that never deserved to be an album track. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

It's a sticky sweet song. I loved it from the time he kicked out the short sound bite before it was released. cracknbush

Not too keen on the track myself, I find it rather whimsical. As for it being in circulation before the NPGMC downloads, Im not too sure. It is of cause on certain bootlegs, The Work vol.1 for example. However, Im not sure whether that such bootleg was already in circulation before the download.

There is definetly not a scratch in there...that is a guitar part. As far as the ending sounds similar to the rest of the track to me.
