Quit frontin in 2004

Anyone can be upset about websites closing, the quality of the music or lack thereof, the contradictory actions of NPGMC. But Prince has operated the same way for 25 years. Unless The Rainbow Children made you a fan of Prince music then you probably have no clue what to expect.

Prince has been rude since 1980; all it took was one hit song to make him a jackass. Since Controversy, music has been promised that hasn't seen the light of day. For 25 years now it's either been Prince's way or the highway. For 10 years now he hasn't cracked the Billboard chart. So because he's no longer a viable commercial act you expect different behaviour from him? The way I see it, there's really no reason to protest or show disdain for his actions.

For those attempting to separate the man from the music, it's very hard to do. Especially when it's the music that makes the man. Even if the music currently ain't flowing from Minneapolis like a broken water pipe...the same music that was flowing 20 years ago still came from the same egotistical maniac who uttered psycho-religious babble about love, God, freedom, etc.

Speak out if you must because it's your God given right if you're irritated. However, I challenge every orger here to stop frontin' in 2004: You aren't going anywhere and there's nothing you're going to do about Prince actin' like a spoiled brat once again. You've already given into his whim by coming here to discuss him. So just sit back, be cool and wait for the next album ... whenever that is.

Many props and much respect for your opinion, sir, although I disagree with most of it.

'k, as long as you don't confuse folks' criticism with disdain.

I have no intention to quit listening to the man's music - I've enjoyed it since I was a kid and I'm gonna keep enjoying it.

But as long as there are discussion boards such as this one, and as long as there are incidents which can be discussed on said boards, I will be discussing along with the rest of 'em.

Care to discuss? wink I really don't see what there is to disagree about. Prince, the man, was an ass 20 years ago. He's still pretty much an ass today. I'm pretty sure we'll both be buying the next record.

Excellent post. I agree with everything you said.

But it won't stop anyone naggin'.

"Frontin'" about "frontin'" - complaining about complaining - it's the oldest internet thread in history - it never changes anything.

This thread is a nice opportunity for people to get their complaints about "whining", "whinging", "complainers" and "naysayers" out of the way though, so kudos for that.

I know, I know...I'm just here to contribute to the never ending cycle sigh In the spirit of Martin Luther King I just wanted to make this post to help someone so my existence on the org will not be in vain.
