commercially it would have been better, but for us fams, the 3 discs is better.

commercially i would have prefered songs like white mansion and joint 2 joint to be removed, but as a fam i couldnt do without

That's still a fairly tight tracklist actually.

I actually MAY like that more than my own.

Mine looks a bit schmaltzy in the middle.

It's the one thing that's always said about Prince - if he made his albums shorter they'd be masterpieces! Emancipation, Sign o the Times...give me three discs over one anyday

Quite. But we're all doing that - so there would be nothing to discuss if we didn't think about the music that we listen to.

Back on topic, I think it could have been a commercial high, but not an artistic one.

No single disc Emancipation should ever feature The Human Body

? Truth always hurts...yet its U with the open mouth that don't shut. I find it so funny how I kept this simple and true cuz we won't ever know, and seeing I don't have this "unified single disc" of this album...what else could I do but dig on the offical one? Stop being a soft touch & learn some respect 4 me son.

Please discuss, as I never said nothing otherwise. Until then my dolly friend... Double up on them chill pills.

Oh please forgive me, that I don't use my time wishing Prince would stop making double albums...I Guess I figure its not my call so I don't bother caring with silly protest of any sort.

Yeah being petty is really nothing else but plain petty. Isn't that Pitiful?

It wouldn't have been a highlight with that tracklist.

It could also have been a career lowlight:
Courtin' Time
Mr. Happy
White Mansion
Emale
Betcha By Golly Wow!
Curious Child
The Plan
Face Down
La La La Means I Love You
Style
Da, Da, Da
My Computer

This would have been his crassest, most cynically tune-free cd of his career.

DA DA DA?! - How can you say that of something with such a brilliant instrumental at the end. Admittedly, it took me a while 2 get in2, but when I did - Oh boy, just like NEWS, but on a lower level. biggrin - This is gonna b disputed.

Yeah, but all that wack Scrap D rapping that comes before the 'brilliant instrumental' doesn't redeem the song. Prince is always at his worst when he pretends he's part of a posse.

I have to agree, I hate all of Prince's songs incorporating rap.

Okay, but I would prefer
(in no particular order)

In This Bed I Scream
White Mansion
Saviour
Curious Child
Betcha By Golly Wow
Human Body
La La La Means I Love U
The Holy River
New World
One Kiss At A Time
Dreamin' About U
Style
The Love We Make
Somebody's Somebody
I Can't Make U Love Me
Slave
A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise.

Somebody's Somebody
Betcha By Golly Wow
I Can't Make U Love Me
Soul Sanctuary
Curious Child
Dreamin' About U
The Holy River
Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother, Wife
La La (Means I Love U)
One Of Us
Emancipation

nod

I made this disc as much for my wife as for myself. It is a little soft and schmaltzy but for times when I want to listen to Prince and placate my wife it's very handy! smile

This is easy to listen to, but nothing spectacular. That's Emancipation in a nutshell.

You're forgiven.

I think you may have failed to see the purpose of this thread.

It's like a "what if" kinda thing. I think we all like triple and double albums. But the "what if" here is that "hypothetically, would E. have been a career highlight had it only been a single disc release" thus concentrating the material from the 3 discs into one (whatever our opinion of those songs making the cut should be).

I think your goodself may want to join me in downing a few of those chill pills you prescribe. wink
