Yet, I can see how some people might think the year sucks
since there is no "official" new "Prince" album.

2002 was terrible, 2003 has been so dull, it's hard to even make a judgement of it.

btw. NEWS and the DVD weren't really a part of this year's club either.

I think its a shame that we even have a thread on this subject, each year that we have Prince in our lives should be a great year!

Prince is a genius and he's also human, he doesn't have to release anything to us now...some artist waite 2-3 years apart before releasing albums and I think he's spoiled most of us!

From that 1 album per year, 1999 wasn't a bad year, it was a major let down, because it was suppose to be a huge year for Prince again, but it wasn't his fault, Time Warners screwed everything up and Prince didnt want them to feed off of his plans, so he rep the best way he could and that was indie.

The Concert was good, if you were there, you'd have understood how great the show was...the one that broadcast wasn't the best of best shows by PRINCE, but it was fun, energetic, another side of PRINCE, he was more calm and mature with the music, but I enjoyed this one...the cd was HOT!!! also...Eve and No Doubt to Sheryl Crow small cameos were great!!!

The songs rock!!! just no promotion from arista!

Prince's 2000 year was great simply because it was the first celebration and boy did we have a great time!

2003 was quiet, but i enjoyed the dvd and instrumental...plus the fact that in 2004 we are gonna get it!!!
so thats kept me interested!

Prince needs a break sometime!

Same thing with the DVD. I got that from the store.

Shit yes, we only got 2 mp3 files this year.

What a comparison. Year 1, for $100 we got 10 ahdioshows
and, what 30+ unreleased studio jam downloads. Cut that
into 4 [as in $25 instead of $100] and you're left with
2 ahdioshows and roughly 7 songs.

Or, to make it very easy: 10 new songs aka 1 new album.

The concert was crap... There were some nice moments (that were of course left off the dvd) but overall it was just crap...


There was more than enough promotion from Arista... I guess you've never seen all those ads in magazines or that little TV promo...
The album bombed because of the extremely weak lead single that was thought to be his pinnacle of the year, but of course was just another crap ballad, and his refusal to issue more singles...
"Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" was promoted like hell...


2004 will only be interesting to me because Warners are finally releasing the long awaited DVD's...
2004 in Prince's camp will probably be as usual i.e. full of empty promises and a fresh batch of carrots... So nothing new or interesting...
