THE NPG - in need of a new name? Like i stated in my previous post, i think the NPG name is old. I think Prince should retire that name, and think of a new one.
I always thought when he changed the bands name to this new name, it went in different ways for Prince. I think the NPG chants and referings were a bit lame, and also lacked of (new) power in that (new?) generation. I personally never liked it, but then again i'm an old school lover.  I liked the new romantic eighties "The Revolutions" name very much. It worked pretty well with the looks and the era, and also caused lots of new musical influences and ideas for other bands at the time. It would only be silly to work again under that name; It's just that i want him to be more creative again, you know..
The Band as i called the people he played with during the Sign 'O' The Times, Lovesexy and Batman era were pretty cool as well, cause they had no name. I even think he named them like that as well. Maybe that's the best. Just Prince and no band references. But what new name would be good if we could/should give Prince a hint? I never liked the name, either...
It sounds like a bunch of hippies wanting to change the world by skipping through fields with flowers in their hair. I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow... Now to find a way to exterminate Melody Cool and Rosie Gaines...

Couldn't agree more with the comments around Prince needing a new band name. NPG is no longer "new" nor "powerful".

Couldn't care less what the name of the Band is,
In 1982 when someone asked me who I was listening to answer 'Prince' In 1984 for example if someone asked answer 'Prince' A couple of months ago someone asked me answer still same 'Prince' "If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it - Now quiet, they're about to announce the lottery numbers!"

You don't have to. This is just one of those subjects that comes up over and over and over. Anyway, I agree with you the NPG is a silly name. Always has been. Of course I haven't read any alternatives that are worth a crap, imo. Except for the idea that he should drop the band name altogether and just perform as "Prince". | |
