Ive heard its a group of people that really run the NPGMC. Happened after love4oneanother.com as Ive seen some paperwork talking about the official hand over of love4oneanother.com to the collective.

Prince history is often surrounded by cyptic mythology 'camille made him do the black album' etc & Im wondering if this is just myth or fact

It did happen and I was one of said "collective" for a little while.

Prince decided to re-launch his web activities and decided that a good way to do it would be to group together all the various fanzines and web hosters and work "collectively" on the project led by the infamous Pierre Igot.

We had several online chats with Prince which were so way out & wacky it was unbelievable. The long and short of it was that a few of us were getting pissed off that...

a) it wasn't about the music, in fact music was hardly ever mentioned
b) anyone who questioned anything Prince said was asked to leave the team
c) the chats started to leak showing what a sycophantic twat Pierre was
d) sarcasm wasn't allowed (or even any form of humour) in the chats
e) it became evident that if you were to stay in the "collective" that you were to close down your web sites and magazines.

at the time, I was working on Interactive magazine and told Pierre and Prince where to stick the idea. I then received a veiled threat from Mr Igot concerning what would happen if I didn't "play the rules". Shortly after, Interactive received a lawsuit, what a coincidence.

Pete Bryant closed Interactive shortly after and I went to work with Uptown who'd experienced a similar situation. Luckily in that case, pro bono legal representation saved the magazine from closing.

Sam Jennings and Chris Dawson (yes, THAT Chris Dawson) stayed in the collective and some others gave it a little while before quitting themselves. To date I believe Sam is the only one left although I wouldn't be suprised if the fan-ripping-off Mr Dawson is still around.

The bloke behind "The Revolution" shop and magazine which then became "Crystal Ball". Famous for holding a Prince event which he claimed Prince would be attending and subsequently was investigated for fraud in the UK after dissapearing with loads of fans money.

Was also the mysterious figure behind "The Truth" magazine which dissapeared into the collective with loads of peoples money.

(are you noticing a pattern here).

Gav, thankyou mate thats exactly the info I am looking for. A friend of mine told me a story quite similar to yours but unlike him you were there. I gotta forward him this article. Gav, are you the man behind Uptown too??

What Im trying to figure out is, does prince have anything to do with the NPGMC or do the collective run everything. It seems very strange that any artist let alone prince would allow the kind of bullshit that seldom happens at NPGMC unless they were really not involved at all.

Ah, the truth magazine, I never got my money back from that, the shithead.

Crystal Ball was a bit before my time, but I have an issue I think somewhere, where was The Revolution shop, was it in Leeds or Manchester somewhere like that, I vaguely remember someone telling me about it once, but then it had closed I think.

There's a whole team of us on Uptown ( http://www.uptown.se/2002...rial.shtml )

Prince is actively involved in NPGMC through Sam Jennings. The Collectively doesn't really exist these days. Non sensical bullshit and Prince have always gone hand in hand which is why I often remind myself that "its all about the music" smile

My friend Ted (fellow org member) was chatting to one of the moderators at NPGMC. He was telling him that Prince has nothing to do with NPGMC & that the collective run tings

Just played around with google... and right the very simple search for "Pierre Igot" linked to a site featuring a music message board:

http://www.latext.com/pm/...ue/C0_6_1/

I guess there's no doubt it's him. Apparently he runs this site:

http://www.latext.com/pm/...ew_all.php

And my first impression is... it's a VERY weird site (content wise). Just look at those introducing texts. omfg

More links show he's much involved into web blogs and web design/programming.
