well, I have heard from a source that he said he'll be retiring soon, but well, you know how Prince is with this stuff.

So just follow my motto: Don't EVER beleive a damn thing the NPMC or Prince says

Yeah, I heard it was his "swansong" too. I agree that he wants to make way for the new, as he seemed pissed off when that Richard Wilkin guy asked him about his music "pre Controversy". Prince is not a has-been, he's still very actively making music, and I think he should only play music that he still feels passionate about. He said he never gets sick of playing "Purple Rain".

I think it might be his last far reaching tour - he might not tour Australia ever again.

I guess the USA, UK and Europe and the odd shows in Japan is his touring bread and butter though.

Prince lives to play. There is no way he'll ever quit.

An Australian NPGMC member, who was at a meet and greet before one of the Australian shows recently, asked him about this issue and apparently he said that it was just a marketing ploy by the promoters and that they were his songs which he loved and why would he want to retire them when he loves to play them...or something along those lines(!)

I read this somewhere recently. It was posted by the person who was at the meet and greet and asked him this question.
