Prince gives VIP tix money from Melbourne to charity This was posted over at NPGMC:
"Like the other fams have written, the set list was the same as HK. But I didn't care. Just the sound check (about an hour long) felt worth the money I paid for the onstage ticket. Oh, and by the way, one thing Prince mentioned to us (Im sure he won't mind us telling everyone this) is that all the money that the fams paid for the onstage tickets was going to go to charity! And not only that, but he was going to double the amount that we gave! Strangely enough, it all seems to have been inspired by that days Oprah show. LOL." I am a huge critic of Prince's antics but I said long ago that he would probably give that onstage money to charity. I can give him props when they are due. Add me to your skeptic tank, but if it's true, then I'm happy and proud for the little guy.

No reason 2 B a sceptic... Prince has always been quiet about his contributions to charities... kinda' like Sinatra was.

Switch off your sceptic mode, cuz I don't think he would lie on this serious issue.

G. Frank wasn't quiet about anything - ESPECIALLY his donations to charity. Read Kitty Kelly's "My Way". She says he announced all of his donations to charity.

prince has always done charity stuff on the downlow, back when he played 6 concerts in one week here in houston, he played a secret concert for handicapped schoolkids during the day, with no publicity. two girls i know were there and it was written about many years later in the houston paper. he'd betta show some proof, then. I'll orgnote him and ask him to post you a receipt. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

he'd betta show some proof, then. Why should he? So that some people he doesn't know, know that he actually did it? I don't think he cares.

At least all or some of the money will probably go to charity... Prince has a long history, going all the way back to the 80's of giving money to charity... That has been proven and is fact. There really would be no benefit to lying about giving money to charity really and his track record shows he does do that type of thing. Marva Collins in Chicago knows this well and knows for a fact that Prince has a generous side... Prince is just doing what he has done for a long time... No reason to be skeptical... really... That's just pushing it... The man is not like that... at all... Some people need to warm their heart before it goes cold... ...

That's a nice gesture - it would be even nicer if that money stayed in Australia...

You would have a point if the the onstage tickets were advertised as going to charity when they were sold. When people bought them however, they were just buying tickets. What he chooses to do with the money afterwards is really none of your or my business. If the tickets were being sold for charity up front, that would be a different story. And for the record, when the L4OA charities' public filings were posted, the charitable donations of L4OA were pretty legitimate, usually in the form of small grants to various non-profits, schools, shelters, etc. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

The people who purchased the tickets got what they paid for, and what happens to the cash afterwards is no-one's business except Prince's. If he says he is putting the VIP ticket money in charitable donations, good for him. I for one am quite prepared to believe it - y'all are too cynical sometimes. Although I wouldn't care if it was untrue (and I'm sure that Prince doesn't care whether or not I believe him - he has nothing to prove and doesn't owe anyone any "evidence"). I've always had the impression that Prince was a pretty generous and charitable guy, throughout his career, especially with local charities in Minneapolis. That said, he still refuses to clear off my credit card balances, despite all the years I've been supporting his musical endeavours. The selfish bastard!

I've had my cards filled to the hilt, waiting for the purple munchkin to sort me out, but nothing yet. Are you telling me P and Santa Claus aren't coming this year? Have I been a bad boy??? .

Believe me...if no one had said anything...it would have gone into the purple pocket.
