Anyone knows if Prince plays sax?

The only album when you can read all the instruments Prince used it on it was "For you", and there is no horn at all. But once I heard that Prince played sax when he was a teenager, is this true or another mhyth about him? Apart from all kind of keys, guitars, bass, drums and other percussion (congas, bongos, tamborine and things like that). What instruments can he play?

I think it's a myth.If he was any good, his ego woulda got the better of him and he'd have grabbed a sax at some concert somewhere.

He probably plays, just not to a good enough standard.

NPGMC chat with Eric leeds, 2003

Eric Leeds, when asked, stated that Prince 'can't play the sax. Has no embouchure, and you can't go out and buy one. Takes years to develop it.'

The story goes that, when he was asked how many instruments he played, he answered: "I can play all instruments, only 27 really well."

Ok. But what instruments? I mean, real instruments like guitar, bass, piano and drums. Congas, bongos and tamborine is the same, percussion. To play key is to play key, I don't mind that you have all kind of keys.
I'm intrigued about that. When he came to Spain last time, he was asked if it was true he could play 27 instruments and he said: "no, nowadays I play 30 instruments"

I thought Prince once said he reallly couldn't play any wind instruments and he always regreted that, or something like that.

On the European leg of the 1990 Nude tour Prince was supported by an Australian singer named Jenny Morris. I remember an interview with her in the press at that time and she said that Prince played sax on one of her songs but he was behind the curtain and none of the crowd knew it was him!

yes, i once witnesses him playing it behind his head before lying it on the floor, pouring lighter fluid over it and setting it aflame. It was one of those iconic rock & roll moments.

Candy Dulfer stated in an interview last year (can´t remember in which one exactly) that Prince indeed plays saxophone but that his playing is not that impressive cos he doesn´t really focus on that instrument.

I thought I read that Prince had tried saxophone...okau this is not the technical espression but:
embrochure is the the "shape" your lips and tongue need to play a horn (trumpet, trombone, saxophone) it's the muscle shape your lips make to produce a good sound, when you play all the time this gets stronger, but it all varies from person to person, for example they say Louis Armstrong didn't really know about developing good embrochure and that's why you can see in film or pictures of him late in life that his lower lip is rather extended, didn't stop him from being a great player, just that most players develope particular muscles which help form the sound they blow from their horns... hope that sort of explains it: any horn players who can help me out here???
