ARJUN: funk-indie-rock-jazz-groove trio just released their debut album entitled, "Pieces"
It's an instrumental outing with heavy grooves and improvisation.

What are you crazy? How was Dez better than Levi? He had a better haircut, that's about it.

Eric is the quintessential Prince horn player - period.

Dez - guitar

John Blackwell - drums (Micheal B a very close second and Sheila E a very close third)

Sheila E - percussion

Rhonda - bass (If you dont count Larry Graham - who is the best funk bass man ever. Sonny T might get her on a good day though)

Fink/Renato - keyboards (this has to be a tie because there are quite different: Renato is a great jazz player and brings that swing to the new Prince soud; Fink laid dont some nasty funk on those early records and was the foundation for that Mpls new wave funk sound that started it all)

Eric Leeds - sax (when you hear Maceo, you think James Brown; when you hear Eric, you think Prince)

I agree - you can put some of Dex's simple work up against that and see he is beter. Even the solo on Little Red Corvette shows this. Get the 1999 gigs from the City Lights box set and listen to Dez playing.
