I just bought the DVD & N.E.W.S.

I bought them both on Saturday, and I have been enjoying them BOTH since. I have given myself a couple of days to get into them. With all the bad stuff being said about both of them, I was ready for some complete crap. This is how I see them both:

Prince Live At the Aladdin Las Vegas DVD: The show first of all, was great to say the least. Prince is at his best. The guitar playing, the smiles (you could tell he was having fun), and the arrangements of the songs. The one thing not too many people comment about is Prince's live arrangement of his songs. On this DVD most of the songs are great. The one arrangement I didn't like was "Gotta Broken Heart Again". It was waaay to slow, and the only thing that was really the same was the lyrics. The sound on the DVD was pretty bad. up & down. The video quality was ok. No, it was not DVD quality but it was okay.

N.E.W.S.: Hey what is wrong with most of you? Yes, the music is not Prince's best by any means. But how many of you complain that Prince doesn't release enough material? He's not going to release anything old, so get over it, it's not going to happen. N.E.W.S. accomplishes what it trys to: Give you some Prince music until the new album comes out, a hold-over if you will. And the packaging? very inventive. I copied the CD and framed the CD w/ the packaging, it looks GREAT!

So a word of advice to all you door-knobs out there: Take them for what they are worth. Enjoy!

You know, even back in the "superstar celebrity" days, I never thought of a Prince concert as being a laser light show...it's always been more about performance and musicianship...or at least, that's all I ever paid attention to.

Now, I think he mighta lost the plot a little bit around the time of The Gold Experience - the stage set got a little "Spinal Tap", and did anybody really need to see a flying Tommy Barbarella? - but still, when I watch the DVD, it gives me the feeling of a good Prince show, regardless of the era.

I just want 2 comment on the "vegas" dvd that I NOW own. Watched it ALL 4 the 1st time this weekend, and have to say that IMO the audio was excellent as well as the picture. We watched it 3 X already. I agree with chookalana, as 2 not knowing what some of you guys R complaining about. Saw bits of it at Paisley awhile back in the NPGMC room on their 2 screens. Actually, the picture quality was not as good as viewing the dvd on my 32" tv screen. Maybe it was bcuz the screens were too large? Sometimes it was a bit fuzzy, although the audio was awesome, as we all know it is at paisley. My favourites were "1+1+1 is 3", and "the ride", but it was "all good". Come on people, give credit where its due.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses
