Deafness

I remember when Prince played at Galludet College during the Purple Rain tour. He played several special concerts for inner city kids, the disabled, etc., but I always wondered why he performed at Galludet, a school for the deaf.
Prince's small size does portend several medical problems. But autism, tourette syndrome, AND deafness? And let's not forget the deformed foot.
Even if Prince wasn't a musical genius, it'd be a miracle that he even got out of bed everyday.
The best thing Prince's father ever did was give him his first guitar at the age of 12 or 13.
Or was it the worst thing?

they had all the signers dress in purple and signed the concert as it happened 4 the kids - I thought that was really sweet.

I think playing for the deaf was very generous of him. I know people who are deaf and they enjoy the beat of the music and enjoy the "vibe" - in addition, their communication style - including but not limited to signing is very expressive - and who is more expressive than Prince.
I'm sure he put on an excellent performance for them.
