Let's be honest, PR is pretty badly written for the most part, and the acting is stiff. Except for the music scenes, the overall film is shit.

It doesn't really make sense, but I guess he's saying that she's lying about anyone giving it to her in the first place. Not that it really matters...he just needed a line to get the conversation started...

I just don't get the confusion here. It's simple. Prince doesn't give a fuck about her answer, whether it's a 'huh' or whatever. He assumed she'd lie before she's answered.

Prince is cheeky, and in Purple Rain the kid doesn't have much respect for women, so why wouldn't he assume to know what they're thinking?
