Listening to "Crystal Ball" (the offical release). Not so bad!

I put all 3 discs in and I'm still on the first. "Movie Star" is cracking me up and "Acknowledge Me" was funky as hell and should have been on TGE (although I love "Pussy Control"). I could definately get into this. Glad I finally gave it another chance. "Tell Me How U Wanna B Done" is on right now...amazing! And of course the title track is the best. Did anybody listen to this album once or twice and then never give it another chance like me or have you been listening to it and loving it for a while. Or is the bootleg a lot better. Wondering what people thought of this one.

I like Disc 1 the best. The album as a whole doesn't get a whole lot of repeated playing on my CD player. The quality of a lot of the songs is just sort of uneven; the remixes take up valuable space for better songs.
My favorite track is probably "Crucial".

There are some great tracks on Crystal Ball
but the sequencing often seems somewhat random.
Also, there a quite a few unesessary and
annoying segues (The Ride is missing it's first
and last notes due to segueing). I would have
prefered to have seen each disc sequenced by
era, not nesessarily in chronological order, but
so there was more of a natural flow.

Of course, "Interactive" is classic as hell. I actually think Crystal Ball is somewhat less uneven than Emancipation... of the two love-hate multidisc mid-90s releases.

'Crystal Ball' (the track) is god-like. Every time I play it, my mind is always blown by the sheer funk and inventiveness of this track. 'Tell me what the bass say!!'

I have always enjoyed Crystal Ball. Recently I put my favorites on a single CD and I usually listen to that disc. There is some "filler" on there. I mean come on...Colleen Bacon Skin? What were you thinking my releasing that? Complete crap. But, Days of Wild, Acknowledge Me, Calhoun Square, the Ride...these are all classic. I wish he would have included Funky Design and Mad. I love those tunes.
