Mayte=Best love songs

Prince had his best love-song writting era when he was with Mayte.

The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, The Beautiful Experience. He wrote that song for her.

Emancipation - almost the whole album was written for/about her and his then upcoming child.
Holy River - Let's go down to the holy river, I called my girl and said I had something to give her, I asked her to marry me, she said yes and cried...
Friend, lover, sister, mother/wife
Kindda says itself, don't u think?

But I don't see any beautiful, that loving songs written for Mani... confuse
Does that mean that Mayte was his first, one and only, he loved her like nobody else?
Isn't he happy with Mani, don't she inspire Prince?

Not to diss the poor girl, I don't doubt she is fine as hell, but what is it about her that makes Prince concetrate more about his beliefs (TRC) than about his wife and his child?
Is it true, as they say - U never forget your first, true love.

I hate to say that, but this is absolutely true.
He did write the most sensual + beautiful love songs during that period. Whether you like Mayte or not, she definately had a huge influence on his ability in writing TRUE love songs.

nod

She is beautiful, but seems very hysterical also...

But the Most Beautiful Girl in the World is the ultimate love song and it was for/about her. Says itself

No,Mayte was NOT his first, ever heard of Susannah Melvoin,he wrote some of his best and most beautiful songs about her!
And I'm sure he LOVED Susan Moonsie and maybe a few others,as well.

um... carmen was 15 when that song came out... (aka it was probably written in 1986)...
unless prince is r. kelly, i doubt he wrote that song for carmen.

I think it's because he dosn't want to draw to much attention to her like he did with Mayte. There probably are songs about her but they're kept privert.

PS Carmen Electra was 15 when she did her first medeling photos, and if youd like to see them... I advise U to use someone elses computer. ...And for god sake don't use your own credit card.

Don't know how bout yall, but I still live in the belief that Mani's pregnant.
And Mayte hadn't even given birth to Prince Junior or whatever, when he wrote those songs.

So what'z ya point?

And I did say Mayte was fat - that was before I realised she actually was very beautiful.

I agree he did write some very good love songs for Mayte, he was obviously deeply in love with her for a while.

As for Mani, wasn't 'Muse 2 the Pharaoh' and 'She Loves Me 4 Me' perhaps written about her? Kind of love songs, kind of, "well, she loves me more than I love her but at least she's faithful and won't let me down" type vibe, not quite as positive as he used to be with Mayte but that just shows how much he felt he got burned I reckon.

Empty Room + Big Tall Wall.

Those two alone, I would not trade those for anything on
Emancipation.

Mayte did inspired many many many songs just a shame they
all sound the same.

'Big Tall Wall' a love song???

C'mon Zek, you gotta be kidding here right?... This song centres around the unhealthiest kind of possessiveness that can be imagined. Romantic love it's definitely not what it's about.

and one more thing...

i think "So Blue" is very good one...

***
I had everything I needed
But now my life is so blue
U meant the world 2 me
But now U're gone and I'm so blue
Even though the sun is shining, oh woo
I spend my day, I spend my day cryin' over U, yeah
I will spend my day cryin' over U
Oh I, oh I feel just like the sky
Oh, I'm so blue

Although, "Big Tall Wall" is usually what my relationships
end up being like, I do infact not consider the song as a
lovesong, no. I just meant to point out some other very cool
songs inspired by longterm Prince relationships.

So it isn't just Mayte who inspired some songs. And as I
said, tho Mayte inspired a whole lot of songs, they all do
sound the same. At least with these other women he had the
inspiration to write some seriously hard shit too.

Frustration with Susannah resulted in Big Tall Wall, and
frustration with Mayte just resulted in Silly Game.

Having said that, the coolest song to come from the whole
Mayté affair was "I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore",
which is the only one that doesn't sound like a slick thick
overproduced honeydrippin sugarcoated mirengue of an r&b
ballad wannaB.

i think prince definitely wrote some great love songs during the "mayte years" but i also think there were a lot of weak love songs during that time period. they weren't terribly creative or touching love songs...i mean, some were (disc 2 of emancipation, tmbgitw, the one) but most didn't hit the spot like previous odes of affection. i think the whole susannah period was brilliant...adore, frever in my life, the whole f'n parade soundtrack...just sooo many great love songs. and they all had attitude. you know, like "yeah, i love you...and here's why you need to love me". the one's with mayte were more like "i love you, please love me back".
