As far as I know they met when Morrissey was touring the US in 1991 or 1992. He had a concert in Minneapolis and they met that day. I don´t know if they recorded together. I doubt it, but it would be great because Prince and Morrissey/The Smiths are my two favourite artists.

It would be a medley of "Animal Kingdom" and "Meat Is Murder."

And Morrisey also said "If he(Prince) was from Wigan, he'd be dead by now".

They should do a cover of The Headmaster Ritual, that's pretty funky. I read once that Marr is quite a funk fan, he digs Fatback and Nile Rogers. Or a rocking Russholm Ruffians perhaps? Man that would be cool and probably quite awful, too.

Thanx nuthinbutt. I don't know--like Manuel out of Fawlty Towers, I know nothing, I come from Barcelona biggrin

However, I find them similar in a lot of ways--Prince having a "world" outlook, whilst Morrissey's is more provincial. Yet Morrissey writes of things spiritual too. Check out I am blind. There are a few lines pertaining to the lamb, and the lamb being chased by so-called good people.

Chuck me into shallow waters, before I get too deep, it has been written biggrin

I absolutely heart heart heart Morrissey/The Smiths.

And I was at that Morrissey concert in Mpls back in 1992. It was the first (and only..so far) time I've ever seen Morrissey in concert. It was great. biggrin

I'd love to see what would be the result of he and Prince getting together...would be vedddyy interesting, IMO.

I just couldn't ever imagine them working together - I mean, Prince just wouldn't be able to put up with that Morrisey misery, would he? It would be like Charlotte Church and Marilyn Manson doing a tune together!

I read an interview recently with the producer of The Smiths' Strangeways Here We Come , and he said that Prince's SOTT had just come out and they were listening to it loads wherever they were holed up recording.

It is hard to imagine them together though - video would be hilarious smile

Actually, I think alot of Morrissey's lyrics are hilariously funny. "She wants is now and will not wait, but she's too rough and I'm too delicate" cracks me up every time. And how about "When I'm lying in my bed, I think about life and I think about death, and neither one particularly appeals to me"?

Well, I never really got in to the Smiths, so really only know stuff that charted (Hang the DJ, etc) - it just never lit my fire and he always sounded so miserable. And any time I have read a comment or interview in a magazine from Morissey, it has always seemed cynical and anally retentive. BUT, I concede, I am no authority to judge on their compatibility as I don't know enough about Morrisey.
